I only went to DMS for a hose clip......
Discussion
I was a little enthusiastic with the clip holding the trunking onto the throttle flap housing and broke it at the weekend (the throttle flap was gunged up though and since I cleaned it it's been much better). So I popped along to DMS and met Rick for the first time, who kindly offered to fit the new one for me.
Whilst doing it, he noticed the passenger door wasn't unlocking properly (which the dealers couldn't fix when I mentioned it as it was apparently working when they had it). Rick had it in the garage for a software flash before I could blink. He also programmed the mirrors to fold when the car is locked (the dealers said this wasn't possible on "the older models").
Next the guys took the drivers door apart to fix the handle which was a little sticky (I had just learned to live with it) and a rattle on the passenger side was fixed. They even showed me how to park the wipers vertically so you can safely lift them when washing it.
I "discovered" Rick through the great comments on the forum but experiencing is believing. I'll never go back to the dealer (apart from warranty items - and even then I'll get DMS to diagnose).
Can't say enough good things, they know the cars inside out and care for each one like it's their own.
The irony is I would gladly pay a premium for this level of service and yet it comes at a fraction of the cost of a dealer (in fact they wouldn't accept a penny today despite spending a good 30 mins doing bits and bobs). Then again, the money saved could go into the sportpack fund!

Surley you can't expect a dealer to bend over backwards for you with an attitude towards them like this.I don't know but I expect a dealer will put you at the back of the queue behind their customers that actually show some loyalty towards them.
I don't expect anyone to bend over backwards. In the short time I've had the car it has been back to the dealer 3 times. Once to fix an oil leak and sort out the agreed cosmetic work which wasn't done before I picked it up. Second time to fix the oil leak again (2 weeks later) as well as do the 1st - 2nd gear linkages (which I was originally told was a feature) and the third time to replace the air con compressor which started squeaking after the 2nd oil leak repair - after which half way home every warning light in the car started flashing. Coincidences probably, but confidence starts to diminish after a while.
I don't really have a problem with the dealer, they've been very good and haven't quibbled at all with the repairs. Compared to other marques they have been excellent. I'm subsequently disappointed that they have told me the powerfold mirrors couldn't be programmed and the passenger door lock couldn't be fixed when Rick and the team were able to do it almost instantly. Minor things I know, but to me, in that half hour at DMS I was convinced that I should not take my car anywhere else.
I also didn't ask Rick and the team to do anything today - Rick offered to fit the hose clip and then asked me if I had 10 mins so he could flash the software for the doors and it went on from there. I have never come across that level of care over the cars and passion for the customers in my car owning life - I was only trying to applaud them.

I had a similar experience with my local Merc dealer a few years ago after buying a CLK privatly.....they told me the satnav was faulty the seat belt presenter motor was faulty ect ect. They wanted £1200 to fix it all.....local independant did a few reflash upgrades with his computer and replaced a bus lead for the satnav, all the faults were repaired....charged me £75......not a good main dealer experience.
no what you mean boss, ive got a v12 vantage and its been nowt but bother. been in the dealers for seven weeks now and not heard a whisper for two weeks. allways wanted a aston but my bonfire has been pissed on, ive seen better build quality on 2 quid wheel barrows, and the dealer service matches. no wonder this country makes sod all of any use.
I used to rate the main dealer I dealt with - service and knowledge appeared to be superb. Until, after a service, I noticed an oil leak. I was in France at the time so drove 200 miles to the nearest dealer, who fixed it. When I asked him what the problem had been, he reluctantly told me the drain plug hadn't been tightened properly! If that had come out at 140kph on the autoroute.......

Great 1st post Custard test maybe???Andyuk911 said:
Fair enough. An intro might have been nice, and maybe some details of the problem. trev1 said:
