Doors not always locking first time
Discussion
Hi
I have a 56 plate DB9 Volante which, I have noticed, does not seem to lock the doors on the first press of the keyfob all the time. I seem to recall a thread somewhere on this but did look on Search and couldn't find it.
Can anyone throw some light on this? Is it known? Is there a cure?
I do have a few more months to run on my warranty (from the suppling dealer) so would it be covered?
cheers
Graham

In my case it's the right hand side door that does not lock (passenger side)
I find that if I open the door (or my passenger) opens it before I lock the doors using the remote, then the door locks fine.
It's as if there's logic int he programming to check if the door was open(ed) before locking ..

Further to this thread, I got the car back from the main dealer who said it was not covered by warranty, needed a "reflash of passenger door module" and charged me £140!
Does this seem right?

That is taking the mickey in a big way. "Re-flashing" is when the mechanic loads some firmware into the car. In effect this is like an IT guy charging you £140 to stick a CD in your PC. I would push back very very hard to these people....Does this seem right?

see my thread on frayed seat belts! May becoming a problem with Aston Dealers and their customers with 'older' cars and Extended Warranty. If you read the Extended Warranty document, its list what is NOT covered. Just checked for you and Door locking mechanisms are NOT on the list of exclusions - a bit like seat belts. My advice is to phone Aston Warranty direct 0870 7527041 - be persistent, their first response will almost certainly be "Not Covered". Have the Warranty document in front on you and ask them where it list door mechanisms as being excluded. It may take a few minutes of lively discussion.
Hopefully your dealer will at least have phoned the Warranty lot and tried to argue my useless fking lying wkers couldn't even be arsed to do that little for a (now ex) customer
Good luck
Neil
