Hi Guys,

Finally got round to cleaning my AMV8 and noticed some white marks (looks and feels like mild corrosion) that won't shift on the side strakes (not sure if the right term - near the door by the mesh wings).

I've enclosed a rather rubbish picture from my iPhone - sadly was wet when I took it hence the 'water marks' also.

Any advice welcome on how I can shift it.

Cheers, Richard

Not that I know a great deal about this but if it it was my vehicle it would be straight back to the local dealer for them to resolve. If you do exert too much 'polishing' force on the part then I guess they will have reason not to accept any 'bodywork ' warranty issue

Works a treat and hopefully should shift it and polish it up.

When i first picked my car up it had similar crud stuck to the vent blades and once i polished them up with Solvol they looked like new. Incidentally i use this on my front grill too which comes up really nice.

Cheers

Had mine replaced under warranty last Tuesday at the main dealership in Exeter. Both were pitted with corrosion which I found impossible to remedy with metal polish.

Hate to say it but cheap crap plating! I just modified a couple of DBS side strakers to fit onto a DB9 and I was amazed how easily the plating just peeled off. I am currently getting them re-plated.

The original DB9 strakers were not healthy starting to look like the chrome rear lights on a MGB, pitted and corroding.

A zinc alloy is used, a so called modern version of Mazak, just as bad and used in the process of die-casting now-a-days.

I have pics I sent to the platers if anyone is interested!

The Astons come complete with a 10 year paint warranty so my understanding is this will be covered under the warranty.
I have also got a couple of other paint issues which i am going to ask the dealer for some advice on so will let you know my outcome.

Not much to look at as it is the pic I sent to the platers, so they could see what they was getting, once I have them back and fitted I will post pics of the whole DBS conversion.

Mine were also changed under warranty on a car only just over 2 years old - pretty poor really.

That's pretty chod for an AM; Brightwork on a car costing that much should be stainless steel. Still, fair play if they replace in no-quibble under warranty.
