Hi Guys, spend my time in the Italian section but have been offered a DB9, 05 plate, 40k miles, in need of a minor service, no service book (the seller swears it has full history checkable with Aston?), I would call it average to below par condition, metalic blue with black hide, as far as I know its a standard car with no extra's, so whats it worth give or take?

Ta in advance!

I sold my DB9 MY 05 with 20.000 miles in mint condition and full AM service history (Tungsten with Bitter Chocolate interior) for 45k in April 2009 to a dealer. With the benefit of hindsight this was too cheap (but the market back then was stone dead) but it gives you a benchmark.

get the chassis number and numberplate. You can then ckeck the service history.

well seeing as you can get a mint, straight one with FSH for £45K and a one with 1/2 the miles for £50K, Id say £40-45k..start at the low end wink

Thanks Guys, so anything below £40k would be reasonable?

Instead of chasing the cheapest offer I would rather pay the right value for the right car. Damage to the bodywork is expensive to repair, so the costs of getting a poor example back to perfect condition can easily reach 5k so find the the right one is more important than the cheapest one.

Yeah I've been around top end motors long enough to know that, but this one has found me rather than vice versa. I don't really want it unless its at a price that is too good to resist. I have Italian blood running through my viens and would only get it if I could turn it around quickly and make a few bob.

Okay,
this is a bump as the same car with 5k extra miles has been offered to me again as payment for a business debt. Albeit six months later. The minor service is now being described as a major service so was the minor ever done? or was it a little economic with the truth, who knows, so what is it worth now,?

All the services on the DB9 are pretty major, so if a minor service has been carried out I would suspect rather than following the manufactures guidelines for the service then it had an oil and filter change and a check over,

Any sort of service on these start at £1,200!!! Get him to take it to AM Works for a full service and see the endless list of stuff that needs sorting before you go any further - they are very pedantic about it but at least you know where you stand with the car. Look out for paint bubbling especially above the rear arches. Lovely cars and don't look 'old' in any way - think they are just doing a facelift model now - put a private plate on it and people think its a £100k+ car!!! Lots of flash for no cash!!!
