Aston Martin V8 Vantage...Best Options
Discussion
Hello i am a new poster to these forums used them quite alot for reading but never posted.
I am thinking of getting a Aston Martin V8 Vantage, around a 2007 model.
i have never owned a Aston, only owned Porsche, M3 and TVR.
Just really wanted some advice if possible on what options are best to go for on the v8v?
Thank you in advance.

The options to take into account of, are powerfold mirrors, heated front screen, memory seats, heated seats, sat nav but not any good.stainless exhaust ie quick silver ,tubi, larini.blue tooth

I wouldnt worry about it too much - ive yet to see one on standard (smaller) wheels, without nav or heated seats, usually its a case of its adequately optioned, or has nearly every option
they are not like Porsche, with 1" thick options catalogues, and needing £20K on top of the car to spec it up ...

I've just bought a fully loaded MY2010 V8V. If you went by list, that would be approx GBP14K on top of the vehicle (including the paint, leather and body options). However, this would be my comments on the internal stuff i.e. gadgets:-
1. No matter what people say, options are not the be-all and end-all. You will have 99.99%
of a cracker of a car without missing any of the bells and whistles.
2. Options are there to be useful. Some I find are, some I find are not.
a. Sportspack. Having owned and driven both, the difference is huge. Sportpack is firmer
but not so harsh. It’s not just a set of prettier wheels. Gives better balance of the car at any speed. A must for me now.
b. Sat Nav. Most here hate it but it is fitted in most vehicles regardless. I find it not too bad – especially if you have the latest software.
c. Stereo. 170W or 700W. There is a big difference but there’s an even bigger one situated both forward and aft of the centre console. In reality it does not make a big deal for me in the overall experience.
d. Powerfold windows. Useful but not essential
e. Memory seats. Useless unless you’re going to have 3 people driving (I doubt). Just use manual electric adjustment to your favourite position and keep it there.
f. Auto-dimming Mirror. Useful
g. Heated Seats – I like. Very useful in winter when that leather is cold.
h. Cruise Control. – Another must. Keeps the speed and the points where they need to be on long motorway runs or in “hostile roadspace”.
i. Bluetooth – not essential – use an ear-piece if you must.
j. Integrated telephone – Useless.
k. Volume/Tilt Alarm. Don’t know but if you have a tracker why bother?
l. Brolly, first-aid kit, battery charger can all be bought aftermarket.
a and h are the only “toys” I really look for inside. Getting the colour (inside and out), wheels, trim options, mileage, MY, condition, history etc…is another story altogether.

Re: gearbox... You've got the sportshift (paddle shift) option from early 2007 onwards, or manual. There was a mild facelift at that time, no major changes except the sportshift option and the interior seats.
Don't forget the stitching colour in the seats, it's got to be silver, right?!

I reckon the AM sportshift won't be as sharp as the Lambo. Divided opinion on here as to its popularity but I have one and think it's great. It took a bit of getting used to but after a few hours you get the changes like a manual, and no aching left leg in traffic. The car is more of a cruiser than it's contemporaries at Porsche, it's still a thrilling drive and the interior is modern but subtle and comfy
