Decided today that the V8V is to be sold. Took it to Grange Welwyn and have to say they were excellent at giving me a valuation (and a good offer at that) said they really wanted the car due to mileage and condition. ALso while I waited for them to work on a price they even washed it for me! Very impressed, good to see some stealers still have service!

As it happens I am going to try selling privately first, but with knowledge that I have a good dealer backed offer as a backup plan! Just gone in the Classifieds tonight smile

I have 2-3 months of travels anyway so will go without wheels and sit on the money, then I may well be back in a newer Aston!

Good to hear you had a good experience with them.

Just a thought but it might be worth taking their offer if you believe it is a good one. Whilst the market has picked up a tiny bit from where it was at the bottom the number of Aston buyers in the market is still pretty small. You may find that sitting on the car trying to sell it private to make a bit more cash prooves fruitless and then when you go back to the dealer their offer has dropped as time and their stock levels will have moved on.

If its a good offer Id take it - you rarely get good offers from dealers so Id bite now if it was me in your shoes.

Its basically a lot of on-off business travel, in the last 5 months (since I had the car serviced and warranty'd) I have done only 700 miles in it, with the same expected for the next few months. I figured I would try and sell the car and sit on the money for a little bit before making my next move. However I have also decided that if it does not sell privately I will probably keep the car after all. I am not in any need/rush/want to sell it. I think its a bit of a good one to give to a stealer, and while I was pleased with the offer its still probably £4-5k shy of private prices, so for that I may as well keep her? smile

Dont expext the same offer a month down the line when/if it doesnt sell privately..........as a dealer I much prefer a car that is fresh into the market place, rather than one that has been advertised privatly at a lower price than we will ask for it.

Logical, thanks for the advice! I may be trading it anyway as I have an urge for an r8 now and not sure how long I can wait smile
