Airbag De-activation on AMV8 with height adjust pass seat
Discussion
i'm looking at a used car that has the height adjustable passenger seat spec'd. Unfortunately this then meant the factory deleted the airbag deactivation option...which means in theory I can't safely put a child seat in the passenger seat now or even possibly a booster seat as there is no way to de-activate the airbag. Can anyone come up with any clever ideas / comments on this ? has anyone had a switch retro fitted to get around this ? Is it safe ? cheers
The manual says
" Warning
Before installing a child seat the passenger airbag must be deactivated"
"Warning
Before driving always confirm that the passenger airbag deactivation switch is in the appropriate position according to your requirements"
"The passenger eat side impact airbag is also deactivated when the passenger airbag is deactivated"
Then has a diagram of how To Deactivate the Airbag, and a picture of the where the deactivation airbag indicator light is
However, there is no deactivation switch, light etc on a height adjustable (non Isofix) seat equipped car - just checked mine.
