Hi Guys

My car is 3 years old this year and I have some questions.

1. Do Aston let you know it is comign to the end of its warranty and invite you to extend?
2. Is it worth extending the warranty?
3. How much is it to do that?

I'm in the same boat, 3 years is up early next month, I know my dealer is around £1k for the warranty but looking at previous threads what does that actually cover? Have to get the T's & C's from the Aston.com website I reckon....I'm swaying toward taking it as mine is a bit of a garage Queen (5K miles) and I'm planning to use it more this year....

1. Do Aston let you know it is comign to the end of its warranty and invite you to extend? NO - you have to remind yourself

2. Is it worth extending the warranty?

depends, its like any insurance...you could be lucky ....I havnt done mine, and ended up with 2 new wheel bearings and a MIL issue...total cost about £700 for the year - its a gamble on how reliable you expect your car to be

3. How much is it to do that?

Approx £1300 I think for the official one ...plus an inspection at £275+vat (if you havnt had a recent service at the same dealer)

Local dealership sent me a reminder. I took it out for peace of mind and the thought that it would make the car easier to sell, (no plans to, but you never know). I paid £1K with no inspection fee. The dealer waved it as I'd used them for the previous service.

im at 4 years old and 44K miles

Had 1, and 8 above sorted under warranty...and a MIL issue (loose earth)

the 2 wheelbearings going was weird ...but Id had an accident and couldnt drive for months...it stood for 3 months and happened after that...maybe it contributed ..dunno. still not bad replacement cost at DMS

fingers crossed smile

I am in the same boat as some of you guys and mine actually expires tomorrow.
Mines a MY06 with 33k on the clock and to date have had issues with AM carrying out a modification to the 1st to 2nd gear mod which they are not willing to correct under extended warranty.
To add to it i am having ongoing issues with my rear cluster which i had to argue with them to cover.
I have complained and sent Gaydon a letter, however no response from anyone, very disappointing to say the least.

Well you guessed it, i am not renewing mine.
Yes resale will be easier, but mines not going anywhere!
Yes its around the 1K mark however what’s the point when you have got DMS up the road who give
the service and 1k with them a year on issues is money well spent.
I don’t like the thought that AM are one of the most prestigious manufactures in the world in any market place yet the service i have received it so poor.
If i pay money for a warranty i want a warranty, not something i have to argue, chase and battle with the manufacture for.

I am with you Daffyd, V8 is 4 years old ,17000 miles I hardly used the 1200 pound warranty last year and now the new warranty would be just an insurance type I have decided not to cover and take my chance.I am getting a service at DMS in the next couple of weeks saving a fair bit there so we will see if its a wise decision

Mark, this where sod's law applies. If you get the warranty then you'll never need to use it and if you don't then you'll be kicking yourself that you didn't.

FWIW, I'm not renewing it for the Aston but am renewing for the ML63. I do so few miles overall in the Aston that it just doesn't seem worth it.

Sod's Law in my case means that the Aston will break and the ML won't! laugh

Found out that the extended warranty does NOT cover centre consol things like Sat Nav, bluetooth, stereo, water leaks, hinges, wear and tear or adjustments through wear and tear......now I'm thinking what to do, only 5K on the clock and it may have some issues if I drive it more this year. Do I risk it? works out at £21 a week.......already had the bluetooth module and boot leak done under normal warranty.........Hmmmmmm banghead

Cipo, personally if i had only done 5k i would renew.
With mine in the 30k mark allot of niggles etc have been corrected so feel confident any ongoing problems will either cost me 1k (Renewal cost) of a bit on top.
For me if Aston honoured there word and corrected a mod for me. which they are well aware there is a problem with a would feel allot better and most likely renew!

Also after speaking to customer services about it and not getting anywhere i sent the manager a letter weeks and weeks ago and nothing back. Not even a letter to explain the situation.
Now to be that is bad and not something i expect when paying top(ish) money for a car.

Here's what I'd do.

Search on here for all the common items that have needed to be addressed. Most of the "serious" ones only need remedying once.

Cross off the ones you know your car has had addressed. Have the remainder handy.

Call your dealer and say "if any of <insert remainder list from above> go wrong, will you cover them FULLY under this warranty?" If not, ask how much they would charge to fix them.

You can then make a value judgement.

I would think that, if your car has been used and had most campaigns addressed, that 1k+ per annum would be better off banked. How many things that commonly go wrong would cost more than that for an indie to fix? And how many would go in a year?

I could be tempting fate, but I've not heard of any definitive engine or gearbox failures. Outside of this, what lumpy items go wrong that would be covered by an extended warranty?

Same with me, just getting to the end of the first year without warranty, use it daily and take it to DMS to be looked after

I doubt it. But I thought they worked?

The normal 3G does. And don't think the bluetooth was changed on the 'S'? Is it pairing at all, or is it just certain features that you're expecting that don't work?

In its 4th year and on extended warranty my car developed an oil leak that took well over a day to fix - the warranty paid for itself this year and even at my mileage of circa 4k pa I feel the need to have it

I havent been in it since late October and Im missing driving it so much BUT the last detail cost a fortune and Im not getting my arches salty
