When I depress the clutch pedal( manual obviously )fully and then rev the engine briefly to about 4000 RPM I also get the dreaded burnt clutch smell,
could this mean that the clutch isn't set up right ?
10,000 miles on my car , used to manuals ( never had an auto ) my P 993 has over 100,000 miles , still on its first clutch
As I know the clutch is not the strongest part of the Vantage I want to make sure before the warranty runs out

Firstly the clutch is not adjustable, does the clutch actually slip, best way to test is on a good bit of straight road, cruise in top gear, then drop it a gear and accelerate hard, if the revs increase but the car does not accelerate i would suspect a worn clutch, unusual at that mileage but still possible, bad news is if it is worn and not faulty this will not be covered under warranty,

Hi Rick,
No the clutch actually doesn't slip , it's just that I've never experienced a smelly clutch in the 30 odd years I've been driving , the way I understand a clutch works ( but I may be wrong ) is if you depress the pedal fully the disc is not touching the plate ( I hope this makes sense )
My fear is that the disc doesn't move far enough which could lead to a premature wear of the clutch , or am I being paranoid ?

if the clutch was not full disengaging you would probably have issues with difficult ear selection crunching etc, on level ground and foot fully depressed on clutch does the car try to creep forward, the V8 is well known for it's clutch smell mainly in reverse, if you have no issues with selection or slippage i would not be two concerned, for piece of mind i am sure your local dealer or specialist would have a look though just to be certain,
