Has anyone got any LHD AMV8 headlights they no longer need?!
Discussion
Hi all,
I'm moving over to Germany for a while and need to change the headlights on my 06 V8 Vantage. Flicking the lever to create a flat-beam is not sufficient as I must have the "Kick-up" as per continental lights.
I've been round the buoy several times saying that a flat beam is adequate and legal abroad but my company insists that they must be proper continental lights.
Does anyone have any that they may no longer require? I'm not relishing the thought of having to spend £1000 per light from AM!!!!
Many thanks.

I think you'll find there is such a thing - at least my dealer offered to change mine when he found out the car is often in France - but a grand a light???? Can you change the thread title to 'Has anyone got 2 pairs of LHD AMV8 headlights they no longer need?!' please?!
As far as I'm aware, all you do by accessing the rear of the light units is flip over a bit of tin that then blocks the LH dip beam, it doesn't give you a RH dipped beam.

Just goes to show not to listen to me on Christmas Eve (and the other 364 days a year!).
Out of interest, what is the difference between the two/three types of unit? And why, when they have beam deflectors etc as part of the unit, do they mess about making 3 specific types? Can't be good for economies of scale, and you would think there was some way of designing one unit that would suit all requirements...

If you don't plan to re-register it in Europe (as it will not pass a TUV in Germany without the right lenses) I would simply swich the existing ones over for continental driving and not bother.
If your company insists that it must be proper lights put it on the moving expenses bill - at least it will be tax deductible for them and not carry VAT. Or simply make them buy them and lend them to you and you then give them back when you return by which time they will have been deprecited anyway.
