Yeah, tell me about it. I'd have to drive at least 1500 miles to find that much flat nothingness.

How is it in the snow with normal tyres? I am not brave enough to get mine out, but our beemer is rubbish, as I found out yesterday...so if the Aston is any better then I may have to rely on it for Christmas duties...

No worries with using the pic! I was planning on giving it a photoshop make over during my Christmas break.

This was on Saturday morning near Cambridge.

I promised my buddy a lift to his wedding months ago and although I'd have preferred to be in my 4x4, I couldn't let him down!!

How does it handle in the snow on standard tyres??? Absolutely terribly!!! yikes You're far far better off in a front wheel drive in the snow!!! I'd avoid driving along roads like that at all costs!

I think its time for us Brits to have to carry snow chains in the winter!!

Greg

ps. wavey Hi Simpo. Sadly the car is now sold, so I'll be toddling back to humbletown in a couple of days. frown Hope you're well mate.

Either side of the A10 between Duxford and Royston. There are many side roads off the A10 of which this is one smile

I can indeed confirm that Mr Noble has sold his car...to me!!!!

And what a car it is! I'm completely loving it. Makes my old little sports car seem pedestrian in comparison. After buying it, I drove up from London to Glasgow over Christmas and can confirm it does not like the snow that much... It sat in my parent's garage most of the time. But when it came out, it was an absolute joy. Covered over 1000 miles in just over the first 10 days of ownership which was great as I really got a 'feel' for the car even if it was sitting in a traffic jam on the M6 for 2 hours coming back to London!

Mr Noble's advise was spot on - drive the car a lot and really love the car before touching the SatNav...on that note, where can I get those 2009 discs on eBay/other classifieds? Have had a look but could not find anything.

Sadly it is no longer quite as clean as the picture above - after the drive back from Glasgow, the car looks like it has been off-roading, it is soooo filthy. A good clean is needed ASAP to get rid of the salt.

In terms of buying it, I bought it from Mr Noble privately and probably did things against the usual convention. After reading some of the comments about other people buying privately, some members here would probably shoot me.
1. Did not get a check done on the car before buying it
2. Come to think about it, the car did not even move off his driveway before I had actually paid for it

Anyway, in my defence I had spoken to Mr Noble on numerous occasions and have to say was a thoroughly decent bloke and one who I trusted. It was quite clear he really didn't really want to sell the car. Almost had to prise it out of his hands and I can see why.

Trust goes a long way in a private sale and it works both ways - I'm currently driving around with his very expensive plate still on my car which clearly shows he trusts me as well. Don't worry GN - you will get it back ASAP!

One thing I want fitted to the car is the little front mud guards. How easy are they to fit yourself. Don't really have time to drive an hour to the nearest AM dealer to have them fitted but they can post them to me. If it is a simple couple of screws then I can manage that, otherwise I am not brave enough to do it myself.

Looking forward to contributing on this site in the future.

Welcome! You would normally get a load of replies demanding pictures, but looks like thats already covered.
Sounds like you have a severe case of Astonitis already. No known cure but driving lots helps
Re SatNav latest discs look at the latest Satnav trail, one of the guys is selling them, just PM him. However, last I read he was looking at modifying the whole system, awating to see what he comes up with. It is usable but looks mickey mouse compared to something like a TomTom

Easy to fit, took me around 20mins per gaurd. The hardest screw to get at is the bottom one, you need a selection of star type screwdriver heads and a stumpy driver, unless you have a set of ramps.

Thanks all,

Just spoken to Deby Motor Services and they are going to post me the stone-guards so will fit them myself - thanks for the advice.

Was reading the Sat Nav thread - will drop that person a PM and see where I get to whether to wait or just get the updated discs for the time being.

Might try and post a pic of the car showing the current colour of it!

Hi RT wavey

I'm pleased that you're loving the car! Thanks also for your kind words, it was a pleasure to sell the car to you, so much easier than dealing with someone who you don't fully trust.

I can confirm two things......

1) I wish I hadn't sold it.

2) I'm currently looking for another one! Although I'm going to try a coupe this time smile

I look forward to hearing about your experiences with the car.

Regards,
Greg

ps Did you have any luck selling the Porker yet?
