Looking through the classifieds there are some cars (across all AM models) that have shockingly low mileage for their age.

Surely they are designed to be GT cars. Since GT = Grand Tourismo/Tourer, why buy one if you are not going to "Grand Tour" in it???

Some DB7 examples here:

This one has travelled under 10k miles in 7 years, so under 1500 miles per year.

Or even worse this one with 7k miles in 8 years, that's less than 1000 miles a year.

Why bother buying it in the first place if you are not going to use it? Surely the pleasure of owning an Aston is about DRIVING it.

I guess some people are fortunate to be able to have a daily hack and afford a prestigeous car like an Aston for weekends etc.
Others like me use mine as a daily drive and put on around 1,000 miles per month. I love driving it so I get the grin factor every day.
I am in the camp that says a car benefits from regular use.

its not just Astons - its most luxury, premium brand sportscars

check out all the low mile Lambos and Fezzas ....some have barely been driven far enough in a year to go to the garage for a service LOL wink

Im afraid i couldnt justify owning a car to do a couple of thousand miles per year ...Id rent one for when I need it ..

I guess it depends on how long you plan to keep the car. Whats wrong with buying something prestige and only using it for weekends away, trips to le mans blah blah, I plan to keep mine for 10-15 years, dont see the issue, makes it every bit more special when i do drive it.

samd with all prestige cars. My Aston is nearly 40 years old, and has done just over 80k miles. I thought I had used it a lot this year, but I only did 800 miles in it

I only do about 10,000 miles a year, so if I should find myself with three cars next year that's only 3,333 miles each... it will be a bit like opening the wardrobe and deciding which suit to wear!
