I'm pretty sure this is one of the sh*ttest things i've seen all year, and I'm quite offended by its existence. What do current Aston owners think of it?

Its a scurge on the brand, but if it means Aston can carry on building 'proper' cars then I am all for it.

If it has to be built at all then why can't they badge the bloody thing as a Tickford instead of an Aston? This has to be one of the most spectacular ways of devaluing a badge ever seen.

I do quite like the interior though. getmecoat

It's just such a ridiculous solution to a problem that shouldn't exist. Astons aren't driven even 10% of the miles of most cheapy diesels and hybrids, so they don't produce anywhere near the amount of CO2.

If people start buying these, the CO2 emitted by "Aston Martins" is just going to go up!

is it legal to have an iphone like that in your car ...does that qualify as hands free having a touch screen there?

...just waiting for an excuse for owners to get nicked for that one frown

Go sit in the corner ansd think about what you've just said! biggrin

Its an awful car, but the worst thing is the company boss wont acknowledge its done to emissions- aparently "normal" Astons are too boring, and this adds an element of "fun" to the lineup.

I feel ashamed, and I'm dreading the day when I drive mine, and some twonk in a Cygnet pulls up alongside. And its branded as Foxtons or somesuch. "Wikkid. I've got an Aston too, mate..."

IIRC, you don't get the option to buy a Cygnet unless you are buying a new Aston ? So you will be sitting along side someone with over £100k's worth (Cygnet + V8) and up to £200k's (Cygnet + DBS) worth of Astons, and you are referring to them as a twonk that say's 'wikkid' ?

How small minded, I love it hehe

Of coruse they will sell them on. And of coruse, people are already making grp body panels to change their existing iQ to make it look like a Cygnet- easy to do, as to get around type approval/crash testing, the major compnents like lights have stayed the same. Just new bodypanels. easy peasy. The arches of sarf London are already gearing up for this

And the idea of sellign them to existing owners only is true,m but only for a limited time. Afterwards, the estate agents will get them (and lets not forget- Bez has never admitted this is about co2 emissions. According to him, its all about "brand synergy" and "the current range being serious, and this is fun".

So I'll give it a few months before he annoucnes a "brand synergy" with Foxtons, or a ponsy mobile coffee shop, or a mobile phone company...

Aston need to go back to Marketing school and re-take lessons on branding.
It takes years to establish a brand, brand recognition and what the brand stands for.
Aston consistently viewed as being in the top 5 'coolest' brands for the past few years.
To get there Aston has had to develop cars that are beautiful, reliable, lusted after by most of the population, but priced out of the reach of the average motorist. That takes real effort doesn't just happen. Look at the V12 Vantage, seen by many as being overpriced, but looks like Aston has managed to sell all / most of them at somewhere near list.
So, to continue the brand recognition they take a small (good) City car and Barry it up, add some tasteless bling.....

Its a cynical exercise to meet CO2 levels for the range. It does not have to be called Aston, can be called a Tickford or a Lagonda (ugly enough to be one!) and still fit into the range.

Tenders to mega yachts are NOT a cynical re badge they are made by the same Yacht company to the same exacting standards.

Why is this ? Because Autocar say so ? Hey, it may well be true, but I think I will wait until I hear it from Aston as opposed to something Autocar have said wink
