v8 vantage leeky boot
Discussion
Hi all, I have owned my v8 vantage for 4 months now, and I have to say how very very pleased I am with it. I have just a couple of small issues that I could do with some advice on.
Firstly looking at some of the other forums, there seems to be a common problem with the boot, and the fact that it leeks, well mine does that, and I wondered what the solution is? if there is one?
Secondly, the brakes seem to squeek on occations, I know the pads were replaced prior to me buying the car, is this again a common problem, or are they just bedding in?
Thanks all in advance.

Hi,
bit of info on a thread a few weeks back. My issue seems to be down to the drain holes under boot lid being blocked (or not big enough) so the water can't get out fast enough. The dealer has made another set of holes and I regularly check they're not getting blocked.
Someone else said the dealer had sealed up the inlet holes on the upper side of boot lid with success.

Yes, I had my drain holes very neatly sealed (oooerr missus!) a year or so ago, and it completely solved the drenched boot carpet problem. (Was told by the dealer that that was the official AM fix for it at that time)
As to the squeaky brakes, they probably are still bedding in but will still tend to squeak every now and then if not used in earnest. When the sound (and stares) get too much to bear, and when road conditions allow give it some beans then use them really, really hard (70ish ! - 0) a couple of times to de-glaze them. Works for me anyway !

thanks for the advice.
As regard to the leeky boot, mine seems to be coming from the top corners. The carpet isn't wet at all, it just seems to hold it, and when you open the boot it drips in near the hydrolic struts, into the boot/cabin, would you think this is the same thing with the drainage holes? Might need a vist to AM!!!!

Unfortunately Tim that is an AM design "characteristic" ! There are threads on here about it, but I think in essence the answer is to either open the bootlid very slowly (or is it quickly ?) so that you control the speed that the water runs off the glass and into the top of the hatch opening and down the struts etc, or alternatively only open the hatch just enough to sling in whatever it is you wish to carry in there and then slam it shut and run away !
