ok this ones driving me nuts i'll take it in if I have to to the main dealer(still under warrenty) but are the door trims easy to get off? maybe if Rick would be so kind as to post an idiots guide to getting door trim off i'd be gratefull. Think somthing plastic is vibrating right about where my right shoulder/ear is so kinda door latch end of door. If its too complex I might have to wait untill I can get her in.

Thanks
The car is a 2007 V8v Roadster.

Loose door speakers can be common. A friendly dealer would I am sure take a quick look. I also had some issues with the wires within the roof frame rattling (metal to metal)when the roof was up.
Agree with you about rattles driving one crazy. If the weather was better and the roof was down we may not notice. Roll on summer.

Hi Alan, the door trims are relatively easy to remove,we have one to do tomorrow so i will sort out a tutorial with some pictures, usual cause of the rattle is at the top of the door and really easy to rectify,

I will apologise first for the poor quality photographs i will update soon with some clearer shots,

How to remove a door trim, this is for the osf or drivers door for right hand drive vehicles, for the opposite side everything is reversed,

1, firstly fully lower the door glass, the main pull handle is removed first by removing the two allen key bolts one at each end of the handle,

2, on pulling the handle away from the door tip it towards you there is a leather trim piece that just pulls off which reveals the inner door handle release cable,

3, then disconnect the cable, it just unclips from the rear then the front z shape piece is simply removed then the handle can be positioned safely out of harms way,

4, then two screw need to be removed both are at the left hand side of the door, the first one is in the top left hand corner,

the next screw is a few inches lower and a few inches in

note the length of each screw as they are different and required to be fitted back in the same places,

5, next right along the bottom of the door trim there are four torx headed screws all these require removal,

6, simply lift the door trim upwards and it will come away, carefully disconnect the two electrical connector blocks
one for the window controls and the second for the door lamp,i would suggest having some to hold the door trim whilst removing the connections so as not to damage anything, and feed the door release cable through the hole,

7,the door trim should now be put somewhere safe,

8, most door rattles come from these three plastic mounting points (the two white items in the first photo the third being shown in the second photo), a foam pad or double sided tape such as used to fit number plates put over these before refitting the door trim usually cures the issue,

9, just carry out everything in reverse to refit just mind the door release cable on refitting as not to trap it

Only a fifteen minute job and really quite easy, this is the sort of minor job would not be charged for as is regularly done if i pick up on the rattle on road test the other common one we do is the airbag rattle, but please this is not one to be attempted even though the fix is pretty similar airbags are explosives and must be handled properly,
