Third V8 Vantage
Discussion
I'm now onto my 3rd V8V. Started with a 4.3 Coupe, moved on to a 4.3 Roadster and now have a 4.7 Roadster. All manuals, tried the flappy paddle thing and, whilst I could see it being brilliant on a track, I don't think it adds anything on the road. Loved all 3 of them, but the 4.7 with Sports Pack is what the car should have been from day 1.
Have many people on here owned more than 3??

My advice, fwiw, is to go for the 4.7 roadster. The 4.7 motor is, imo, far more than just a <10% bigger engine, its responses are so much better than the 4.3 (though still not perfect). I think the coupe is the better looking car, but the up-sides of the roadster make the compromise worth living with - and the roadster's not exactly a minger!GlynMo said:

Took delivery of the latest in May this year.
One 4.3, 2 x 4.7's; all manual coupes.
Hi,
A question for all those members who have upgraded from a 4.3 to a 4.7... Is there really THAT much of a difference that can be felt in the REAL world?
I'm asking as im really tempted to trade in for a 4.7 but I'm in two minds as to whether I could get the real world advantages through a combination of power pack upgrage and aftermarket exhaust (which I already have)?
For example, in the real world would overtaking at typical motorway speeds in 6th gear be THAT much more swift/effortless in a 4.7 over a 4.3?
Your comments would be much appreciated!

Never having driven a DBS I wouldn't know! The 4.7 is instantly noticably beefier in the mid range and you never have to thrash it to the limiter to get the best out of it. If you DO take it to the limiter, it still doesn't object and sounds terrific, if quieter than the 4.3. Not so quiet though, imo, with fuse 22 out, to make an aftermarket exhaust good value.
I had one of the early 4.3 V8V's (Jan '06) and apart from a few teething problems, enjoyed the experience every day until May 2008, when I traded it in for a 4.3 V8V Roadster. Ok, it isn't as achingly beautiful to behold as the Coupe but my God, the sound with the roof stowed, especially with the exhaust baffles permanently disengaged, is truly awesome and something I shall always remember. I found the manual box in the Coupe more engaging than the Roadsters paddles, and although I'm sad to say goodbye to the Roadster, I can't wait to get my hands on the big lever in the V12V which with any luck should be ready to collect 18th December!

You won't regret it. I loved my N400 Roadster but have always preferred the shape of the coupe. The V12V just makes it perfect - especially when the sports button is pressed.Has anyone compared the prodrive suspension upgrade to the AM sport pack? I personally think the ability to switch between sport mode and comfort would be nice, same with their exhaust.
As for the 4.7 not sounding as good.... just put a quicksilver or larini rear box on it. You could probably add a bit of power and flexibility to it by putting sport cats with rear box. Might be a bit on the loud side if you go with the larini set up. Larini cats with perhaps a quicksilver rear box might be a good combo.

There's a few options to get the sound level right when you go with cats - just need to make sure you do your research. The louder versions of various exhausts are generally too loud with the cats. Unless you're a bit mental (which some of us are... myself possibly included!)As for the 4.7 not sounding as good.... just put a quicksilver or larini rear box on it.
