Does anyone have experience or a view about buying ex AM press cars?. I have noticed one or two coming onto the market. Undoubtedly they have been well used but hopefully refettled before release for sale.

Imagine you meet the most beautiful girl you ever saw. You fall for her, and she falls for you. You marry.

Then you find out that before she met you, she did 200 bukkake movies and was eurpoean anol wh0re of the year three years running, before becoming a call girl in Amsterdam for a couple of years.

At least you know what happened before you took it on.

LOL @ Soovy ....not far wrong though!

....Id want it to be discounted a bit I think, more than just "ex-demo" as it will have had a hard life during its early days ....imagagine a few days with Autocar doing 0-60, 0-100, laps of the track, then at EVO, then onto CAR ...and on and on ...its not like its had 10K miles driving around a city centre on a few dealer demos LOL wink

In all seriousness, it will have been pampered by Aston, but you have to assume that it's been driven to HELL by journos, their families, mates, kids and probably the dog as well. Dogs in particular are renowned for using the redline on a cold engine.

hehe

Assume the worst, pay accordingly.

The ex-press car DBS sold for £99k.

That's what £66k off list from new?

Quote from a friendly AM dealer about the £99k DBS "rather him than me.."

I think that AM will fix the car up, but it's been thrashed around the place by drivers who simply don't care about the car (redline from cold - well why the hell not? Emergency stop from 100mph just for sts and giggles - I'll take two)

Caveat emptor in a big way. All in my humble opinion....

Porsche sell their Silverstone cars all the time through the normal dealerships and Ive seen them up for sale fo not far under the normal retail price. They often stand out from normal cars because they have very unusual spec items such as being a C2S with lightweight carbon bucket seats.

Id say if you like the car and the price go for it. You will get less on resale but if you paid less in the first place then it doesnt matter.

I've got to go and ask some questions at home now. A bit worried to say the least.

I drove the V12V that Clarkson had on Top Gear yesterday (Thanks Grange Welwyn). Absolute hoot and didn't seem any the worse for wear to me, although the clutch was somewhat binary, but they appear to be built like that.

How much damage can you really do in what I presume is a small mileage though? If it's done 4k, admittedly hard miles, apart from redline from cold and a few burnouts what will they do to cause long standing damage?
0-60's and 100-0's aren't causing permanent damage only wearing the tyres and brakes out, but presuming they are replaced before being sold by AM then what can be seriously screwed up?

It's not like it picked up bad AIDS on it's way to the second of its 3 anol wh0re awards!

It's on or off, very small bite point.

Understood. Mine is still pretty normal and hence easy to modulate.
