my rear wheels are always caked in more brake dust than the fronts.

this was kind of the case with my bmw (traction control i presume) but never the case with my mercedes benzes

i've also noticed that there's a bit of 'drag' when i'm reversing (which sounds like parking brakes) and some squeak/squeal from the rear axle when turning. I can get rid of this by pulling on the parking brake while moving and putting it back down.

Can the handbrake be adjusted 'out' a bit?

Cannot comment on the brake dust issue, but I still have the same rubbing problem with reversing slowly, this after it's been to the dealers to get it checked. maybe this is normal?

maybe it is

come to think of it, the excessive brake dust is probably from the traction control stopping the bald back tires from spinning...
