Just got back from a weekend in the Peak District and averaged 28.2 mpg for the homeward run including hitting a jam on the M25. And that's two up with the boot full to overflowing

Reckon 30 mpg is possible but probably a little boring.

i know there is a little bit of a language barrier between north and south but i`m pretty sure a two`s up is the same down there as it is up here! if so, sounds like a blinding weekend!!!

I managed to average 21.8 mpg and 45 mph over a 911 mile trip around Scotland recently. I was quite pleased with that.

Me too, but only because I thought he must have been driving a diesel Focus!

Were you towed home half the way OP?

I'm now officially (having looked at the running average on the computer) running at 20.8mpg. 55mph average. Just under 30k miles.

The only time I ever see figures over 21mpg are on the instantaneous readings!

(Neil - not that I'm bothered. But it tends to shut people up when they ask smile).

Good fuel consumption is like finding a tenner in the street: I never go looking for it but that doesn't mean I'm not pleased (and surprised) when in happens ! biggrin

Amazing MPG. My recent trip to Scotland saw the computers average MPG go above 20 for the first time in my N400 (so must have averaged more than 20 for the trip) but it settled back to 19.6 when I handed back to the dealer as part-ex after a total of 7,500 miles. I was surprised by that achievement (official figures are 18.8 iirc).

Not a hypermiler - just cruised at +/- 70mph on the M1/M25/M23.

Average 28.2mpg, average speed 65mph.

And for Tuscaneer - unleaded, it's only 101.9 in Derby. Used to get just under 30 mpg in my 5.0 Chimaera on the way to Le Mans and we weren't hanging around.

i got 5.4mpg the other night on the way home down country back roads. but....it was very dark and i was really actually trying to keep my eyes on the road so it may have got lower but i wasn't about to navigate dark bends at 10pm at night doing national speed limit with my eyes glued to the instant mpg reading!

i thought it was a sensible choice. whistle

i`ve seen 4.1 as well.it wasn`t easy,my face changed colour slightly and you could see most of my teeth in the process.the wife wasn`t too happy looking up the road through the side window and she didn`t laugh when i said she looked like the scream by edvard munch.it was worth the little hole i put in the ozone layer

Thank god for that - normal service on the forum resumed.
Now got a decent target to aim for tomorrow - got to get below 4.1MPG!
Do i jsut have to get it below that for an instant or do I need to average over a reasonable distance? spin
