Hello Aston fans. I am the proud owner of an '06 V8 Vantage as of today, and have been taking advice on what to look out for in terms of common complaints and faults. It is clear that the Aston cobwebs of old 'i.e. Jeff the engineer left his sandwich in the airbox when building my DB5' are gone, but I wonder if there is anything I should be wary of?
Thanks

Firstly, congratulations on a fantastic choice of car
Secondly, no photos no advice!
Its the rule of this forum smile

Lots of previous posts re problems but from my own experience there are no problems with the car - unless you are on the continent in which case expect to have the car surrounded at every service station and be chased on motorways by people trying to video you biggrin

Apart from that, clutch smells, especially in reverse, the paint on thr bonnet is made of cheese and .....
.... thats it. Enjoy

fixes like stiff gearchange and squealing brakes should be in the service record and been done a couple of years ago when it was serviced.

congrats - hope you got a pre March 06, for the cheap road tax wink

Thankyou gents, appreciate both. Mine is Aug 06 reg'd, but it sounds like the goal posts are changing to hit owners of cars since 2002/3 shortly. It was only a matter of time. Will post pics when I have some and work out how to put them up!!

Congratulations on the car and welcome to The Club. Enjoy! driving

P.S the sickness that now ensues is known as ASTONITIS! It is not curable. Once caught, you just can't get rid of it!

Gary, Interestingly I have owned 3 Audi S4's over the past 5 years (helps with the running cost expectations a bit!), and was considering an RS4 before seeing the 'Aston effect' when I followed a pal down to Le Mans - he was in a 07 DB9, me in my S4 cab - not a glance in my direction but tons on the Aston - a different league. I had the means, and 1 minute into the test drive I had to have it!!
