Calling All Vanquish S Owners
Discussion
Yes.
The vanquish s is the car i've currently got and is much improved over the original 460hp vanquish.
There are slight differences to take note of with the vanquish s.
It's much sportier with more poise and more precise handling.
It is a fair bit more powerful with 520hp, but the vanquish's weight is hauled along much more easily with the power increase and feels more able at high speeds and also much more planted with the sportier suspension.
steering has slight more feedback, not much more though.
It is a reliable machine and have not experienced any engine troubles so far.
There was this time it had a flat battery when i left it for almost two months during the summer.
Charged it up and was working well again.
The flat battery is the only problem i've come across so far.
Ride height is a few millimetres lower than standard car.
and as a consequence of the sportier suspension, ride comfort has dropped very marginally over the standard vanquish, but the ride is never harsh or intrusive, only a little bit stiffer.
overall though aston martin has definitely ironed out the bugs from the standard car and has made it into a very polished and highly capable supercar.
Another thing i've noticed with my vanquish s is that if you leave it on neutral for a long time or if you've driven after a long journey, you can notice a lot of heat from the bonnet vents.
On cold days, it creates good visual drama and reminds you of a fearsome beast and that it's a true thoroughbred.
However, the s does run slightly hotter than the standard car.
I usually use this car for weekend runs but im sure it would be very practical as a day to day commuter.
A few years ago when i had the standard car i used it almost everyday and proved to be fine.
If i were to complain about the car it may sometimes be the ride height.
It can get over most speed bumps fine but watch out for these new speed bumps (i've heard their higher)
And it is a bit thirsty, especially at high speed journeys.
The air conditioning in my vanquish can sometimes smell a bit strange, im not sure if this applies to other vanquishes though.
Apart from these minor niggles, the s is absolutely brilliant.
Another thing to take note of is the manual conversion for the vanquish at around 10 grand.
Im thinking about swapping the robotised semi-automatic for the manual transmission as it's been receiving very high praise and great reviews from owners.
Car magazine says it transforms the whole vanquish experience and makes it much more involving overall.
It's a light gearbox for easy shifting too apparently.
I might be considering the gearbox conversion in the near future.
i hope this information helps

My vanquish s is a late 2006 model with the revised centre console and the deeper bucket leather seats.
As i live in glasgow, every few months i take it to graypaul edinburgh to get a servicing or checkup.
The greypaul dealership was where i got my aston and they seem to be very efficient and dependable.
The aston workshop can also help with any queries too.
hope this helps
