Had a DBS for 12 months and ready for a change (but what a great car!). Would love a smaller car and something with an auto or semi-auto box. But of the same feel and quality as In the DBS.

From what I can see, there is nothing on the market other than the Alfa 8C or the Aston V8 sportshift. Am I missing other options?

Thanks for your advice! What else is out there?

My opinion,

1. DB9 great GT fantastic on dual carriageways, Motorways etc, sportspack on the coupe greatly improves handling and has good scope for remap and exhaust improvements, loads of power but in slow traffic just wants to go, rear seat completely impractical, Can be used as a daily drive but i find the V8 more practical, DBS pretty much fits here as well. for sheer adrenalin rush on an open road nothing compare for a non turbo non supercharged normally aspirated engine,

2. V8 Vantage 4.3 and 4.7, my personal favourite why it can be loads of fun when pushed but an easier drive in slow normal traffic, not as much power as the DB9 and more usable as a day to day car, feels more planted and again add a sportspack and power upgrades completely different feel, and has the cheapest yearly running costs.

3. Vanquish the muscle car has a major road presence, possibly the most expensive to maintain, I would suspect this will become a major collectors item, the gear change system takes a bit of getting used too, and in stop start traffic can be very frustrating and tiresome, you can roll back on a hill and be jerky on takeoff, due to manual box and hydraulic selection of gears made even worse if not set up properly. also the interior appears dated in comparison to it's age,

4. DB7 Vantage, cheaper to buy, but again appears dated for the age, more costly to run than the current models, with bushes and coil packs being common issues and service cost per year being higher than current models, Never forget though this is the car that led to all current models and sold more Aston's at it's time than any other previous model as such plays a major part in Aston history, Has a tendency to be camber sensitive and have clunks from the rear end on acceleration deceleration,

Personal choice, a part of history, the one that stands out, the fastest or the best handling each have there own attributes, all will bring a smile when driven each have a different style and handling each special in it's own way,

What about an F430? Or, if you fancied something a little more raw, a 360CS?

Will be about the same price used as a newer AMV8, and they're good cars. Get a more subtle colour and even some elements of the image are easier for some to get on with (though a red Ferrari is always a good option!).

The CS is very well regarded as a fine driver's machine. And at around the 75-85k mark is likely to hold its value quite well. They also look superb in TdF blue.

In TDF Blue it is lick. I love the CS (although not a fan of the standard 360, bit boring looking in mu opinion).
