I removed fuse 22 today and started the car, it ran fine, about 20 minutes later I tried to start the car but it is saying "check batery off switch". I have tried pressing the switch above the fusebox in the boot but nothing happens not even to the light on the switch itself, anybody else had this problem? Also the temp gauge is reading maximum?

Thanks

You must have knocked the battery isolator switch in the boot. To re-set you will need to find the small ressesed button the right of the drivers seat. It's half way up on the carpeted bulk head at the back of the seat.

IIRC, it is the fuse that when taken out, keeps the exhaust valves(?) open all the time, allowing you to enjoy the noise without having to get to x amount of revs before they open at the time Aston intended.

I think thats it ??

Fuse 22 controls some valves on the exhaust system. These valves normally open at 4000(?) RPM and the glorious sound of an Aston engine is revealed to the world. In a DB9 there are very few opportunities to get this sound when driving on public roads.

If you remove the fuse, then the valves are permanently open. In a DB9 in automatic there is very little difference. However, in manual mode, you can generate awesome sounds without scaring yourself to death.

If you drive an Aston, then you really have a public duty to remove Fuse 22.

Fuse 22. It's the best way to win friends and influence people when tunnel running....

There are valves in the exhaust - normally closed between 0-4500 rpm (maybe 4000 - cannot remember) that open at 4500 rpm and give a wonderful noise to the V8. Like the sound that you expect Valkryies would make if they drove a car and were coming after you...

If you remove fuse 22 you have the ride of the Valkyries from 0rpm.

Basically, it's a required mod to an Aston Martin Vantage V8. Every dealer will do it for you and there are NO mechanical downsides - Aston Martin works service will happily fit you a bypass switch to allow you to switch from F22 in to F22 out mode (loud to louder).

Get someone to drive past you in a tunnel with f22 out and you'll never look back....

Your better off removing and blocking off the vacuum tubes which operates the valves leaving fuse 22 in (this operates the vacuum solenoid)the valves then will not seize in the open position as they are left freely swinging.

There is an alternative - James at Paralight can supply a device that you can control the valves from inside the car by remote - so you can have them open all the time, but at the press of a button return to the factory setting. As Steve points out, this also allows the valves to move. See www.fuse22.net

I assume then that the lack of F22 and increase in noise uses no additional fuel - basically it's like running with a straight through exhaust, or baffleless exhaust?
