i thought i would mention this as it still brings a smile to my face, usually i am entrusted with your cars and comments like please look after her, it will be safe etc etc are the norm as it should be....
Well a couple of weeks ago I had one gentleman who we fitted a sports back box for, a great gent with a great sense of humour, on fitting the new system which was not the normal version but the LOUD and by LOUD i mean LOUD, it tested the system by revving it wow the first comment by a customer waiting for there DB9 in reception was " I hope that is not my car" don't worry kay explained the situation, then after a few cosmetic repairs i was invited to try the car on the road, "Rick you drive" with harry whoops did i mention his name, i proceeded on my usual road test route, then came, " open her up" which as instructed with smiles from both of us, on returning to the workshop, Harry (damn did it again)he wanted a drive by to listen to his new exhaust, again with a strange comment "don't forget to give it some" never wishing to disappoint a customer I carried out my instructions, In some ways it is refreshing for an owner to understand that these can be driven hard albeit usually by the owner, and how they respond when pushed, Harry i will defiantly put this down to one of those surreal moments and really enjoyed your visit,

Nice to know there are people like that out there.
I can tell you that the std exhaust with baffles open on a V8Vantage is around 118 Db... had it tested today
at the cheddar gorge meet, have to say i was very happy with that.
I think there must be something amiss with your exhaust, or the way it was measured.I can tell you that the std exhaust with baffles open on a V8Vantage is around 118 Db... had it tested today

I'm pretty sure mine was sub 100dB. 118dB is VERY loud.

Even with the baffles open?
The broken same meter was used by someone who didn't know what they were doing for everyone at a meters distance the loudest was a C5 vette at 126.6db.

I've had mine measured twice recently, at Bedford and Oulton Park. It was 89-point-something dB at about 5000 rpm both times with my standard exhaust.
And it was the best sounding car both times too.
I'm pretty sure when I had mine tested it was 93dB or so. A sports exhaust (with a silencer about a third the size) was still under 100dB IIRC. My car had done something like 20k miles at the time. And it was the best sounding car both times too.
Also IIRC, an increase of 3dB is double the loudness. So 118db is very, very loud.

It was done in Chedder gorge so a lot of reverberation but this was a bit of fun for charity.
Just checked the link out - sounded good. Was it off the limiter?
I still suspect the reading's on the high side, but the comparison with the other cars was interesting.
You should try a Tubi. Great sound and must drop the weight of the car by at least 10kgs (possibly double that).

I really like the tubi exhuast and like the idea of sports cats but have only heard it online.

Probably explains it then - the readings I had done were at around 5k revs.Yes it was on full throttle as where all car readings.

Where abouts are you based? Might be able to help with an audition

I have just had taken off the aston martin rear box, what a huge thing and heavy!!
I am now runing twin race vortex exhausts - and my god what a sound - better than anything i have heard out of a DBS/Van/V8..
I have published on utube the std exhaust sound, and will do the new one very soon if i can stop driving it

Hi Mate, I'm over by Swindon.
Are you around that area on Thursday afternoon/evening (say around 1700 or so)?I happen to be in Gloucester that day in the car. I use the A419/M4 and could spare a 15-30min diversion for an audition
hear your car
