Guy's & girls, had the car for a couple of weeks now and would like to share a some possible problems.

1. Washed the car a few times now and have found that when I open the back up the next day, water still pours out from a couple of drain holes halway up on the inside. Has anyone else had this or have I a drain hole blocked somewhere lower down?
2. When reversing, the brakes seem to grind
3. On full lock going forward slowly, a judering noise occurs (turning left or right)
4. At motorway speed angel, the steering feels very light and jumpy, almost as if the steering rack has a problem?
5. The car seems to perform much better after a good warm up (just a comment)

Would be good to get some feedback as it's in for some other warranty work this Monday. Thanks in advance.

I take it this in an AMV8? If so

Mine did this and I had them blown at the dealer. I still get water in the car if I lift the tailgate and it has water on it though (bad design)

2. When reversing, the brakes seem to grind

Book in with Rick, maybe handbrake is too tight (mine was)

3. On full lock going forward slowly, a judering noise occurs (turning left or right)

Book in with Rick

Mine is the same. It moves on every little indentation on the road.

5. The car seems to perform much better after a good warm up (just a comment)

They do.

Mark.

Hi mark, hope you are well,

cipo there is a possibility some of the drains are blocked, reference the brakes as mark states the handbrake could be over adjusted or may need deglazing and possibly require a mod which is anti squeal pads fitting to the brake pads, the juddering at low speeds when turning, this is to do with the traction control, and can be a few different things, to test this firstly turn of the traction control, (press and hold the traction control button for 10 seconds until the warning appears on the dash) then try it, if the noise and vibration have disappeared then there could be problems with these items, the diff oil may have not be replaced with the latest spec and a limited slip diff additive has not been used, there could also be chatter from the driveshafts where they enter the hubs, which again is a simple repair, As for the steering, firstly check tyre pressures and for uneven wear on the tyres, the car may require the geometry set up correctly (this is not tracking or four wheel alignment) does your car have the standard suspension or the sportspack, again as mark states the cars do react to undulations in the road but should not feel loose or out of control, you mention your warranty defiantly write down the issues you have and hand it to the dealer so there is no misinterpretation between what you say and what is passed on,

Rick, Mark, thank you so much for your prompt responses, I'll do what you say and let you know the outcome. The car (V8V) has only done 4.6k miles in 2 1/2 years so I guess it still has some running in to do......

There is a revised seal for the rear window which can help prevent/minimise water ingress to the boot.

Mine has it, and it has improved (though not totally cured) the problem.

The boot lid water is a case of design over function I'm afraid. There used to be holes in the seal on the boot lid deck (They're probably still there just don't do anything) but debris got in them, blocked up the exits and then you ended up with an en-suite in the back of your car. If you have ever had this there's a good chance your dealer will have sealed them up to stop it happening again. The way it works now is the lesser of two evils.

Its an Aston, dear boy. Have you tried bottled water?? I find Buxton spring works best. Still, naturally...
