DB9 Rear Lights
Discussion
i presume the lights that you mean are the clear lenses, these are available and have been for a while, they are basically the same as these as fitted to lady topaz's V8 vantage volante, http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...
yeh rob is a good bloke, strange though i have not seen anything in the usual despatches, Xk looks like you have the inside track, Knowing Aston though they usually can not be retrofitted to earlier models without programming upgrades, as per the clear lamps, pre 2007 model year,
Why i hear some of you ask, the new style of lamps on modern cars are controlled by computers and can networks, so instead of flick a switch to turn a light on things are a bit different, now you flick a switch a request is made to turn on a lamp via the low can network, a digital signal sends the request to the lamp, the processor in the lamp receives the signal and duly complies, the later protocols as dictated by the EU if led lamps are used then if the lamp fails then it needs to be displayed to the driver so the new led lamps used on an older car will not carry this protocol (even though they will work just not technically legally)so reprogramming of the onboard systems is required to meet current legislation,
