Between the sound from the standard (160w ?) audio system in a Vantage V8, and the Premium (700w) system?

Also: Are there just the front speakers fitted to the standard system. I know there are speaker grills in the back, but I have been told only the speakers are fitted to the front of the standard system.

Cheers,
Ian

I just picked up my 07MY V8V and have to say after having Bose in other cars, the standard audio is good. The sub-woofer behind the passenger seat booms if you raise the bass (found this out tonight when I let the wife have a blast). But alas it is booked in for warranty work as one or both channels sometimes disappear altogether and all you can hear is the sub-woofer.

the premium audio adds a pair of rear speakers and a amp

standard set up is more than adequate for most people and has a pair of front components and a sub

The standard system is good and provides some great sounds, in fact its better than many car systems and more than adequate once you have played around with the settings, but the Premium system is a big step up, it has far more depth, great control and balance & a fabulous clarity even at high volume. Given the choice I would spec the 700Watt system every time, but if I had found a good car at the right price without it, then you probably wouldn't know what you are missing and be more than happy! Hope that makes sense!

Standard = Two door speakers 40W each with mid-range & tweeter units, rear 80Watt subwoofer housed under rear environment (LH side), 160Watt total.

Premium = Upgraded amplification with Dolby technology, audio door speakers upgraded to 100Watt, two extra rear 100 watt speakers added with midrange & tweeters. Additional 100watt centre fill speaker. Subwoofer upgraded to 200 Watts with special design to give best response from size! Dolby Pro logic 2 (more depth & realistic sound). Total 700 watt output. With the premium system you also get controls to vary the level of the subwoofer, centre speakers, fader, plus surround sound, which aren’t available as standard! I believe (but I’m not sure) that the equalizer function (which is optional) is also provided with the premium system, I certainly have it on mine.

The 700W system inmy V8V is the best in car audio I've ever heard and that includes the Austin Metro I had aged 17 where the audio system cost me 4 times what the car cost me hehe

It is a wonderful sound!!

I have the advanced Linn system in my car, and it is very good. However I am going to buy the V12 Vantage, and wondering if it is worth the serious extra money for the B&O system. I do like the idea of the raising little speakers - but that is just a gimmick - I know. But I am seriously into good quality music. So has anybody had a chance to listen to both systems - the Linn and the B&O?

The premium audio is very very good indeed. I have it and it is quite probably the best "top end" factory fit system I have heard.

The standard audio whilst fairly good for a standard fit system is only average at best. I listened extensivly to the std audio before I decided and I personally couldnt live with its average performance in my car.

If you care about music in the car then there really only is one choice - premium. Its significantly better and well worth the cost - if audio matters to you.

Many people claim they cant notice the difference but I think thats down to what you listen to and at what volume. If you listen to Radio 4 quiet enough to still hear the rear park sensors over it then I dare say the difference between any two systems is negligable. However put on some decent pop/rock/dance and crank up the volume and the two systems are hugely different. Its like saying a Fiesta goes just as fast as a Vantage if driven at 20mph around town...

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate your comments.

I do enjoy a good audio system and the quality is important to me, so I guess it's the premium system.

Have a good weekend.

Ian

Both systems are the same - they block out the sound of the exhaust!
Have got the Premium system but spend most of the time with it off

The Premium for when you're sitting in traffic and you don't have the joy of listening to the engine/exhaust note!!!!!
