I might upset a few people here but I have undertaken a conversion of changing a DB9 into a DBS, only from a body point of view although the customer has mentioned upping the HP to 700!
Aston is not particularly happy with me but have agreed to sell me all the parts, has anybody done this before? I can't imagine I am going to have much trouble as it just simple panel changes just wanted to know if I had anything to watch for apart from Aston lovers with baseball bats hiding around corners

Lets be fair about this it's not like its having an aftermarket kit , it will be all Aston OE suff going on the car but from what I understand the DBS has a wider track and the arches flare more, will this affect the front bumper? Really hard to tell from pics I really would want to see one side by side.
But I will post some pics up...... For someone who wants a DBS but has DB9 money I think its a fair compromise and there is nothing stopping you keeping all the original stuff and fitting it back to standard if you come to sell.
I cant see a problem with this but I am a modifier by trade and a purists nightmare so I won't care too much what the anorak Aston lovers think.
Takes a lot of kahunas to start mucking about with a DB...... Definately a guy who wants what he wants and hang what everyone thinks, I take my hat off to him!

take your point mate and i don`t think we`d ever see eye to eye on something like this(with it being your trade and all!),it`s not that i`m some stuffy old guard aston tweed type, in fact far from it(34 year old scally!) but i was the type of kid who didn`t even like stickers on his bike.the most adventurous mod i ever performed was putting porsche cup alloys on an old 944 to replace the cookie cutters.i guess it all smacks of a 30 quid rolex fake,i personally wouldn`t have the brass to wear one.likewise when i bought my v8vantage it was what it was .i personally haven`t got 140k for for v12v but wouldn`t dream of trying to stick vents and such like in the bonnet to try and appear something i`m not.each to their own i suppose and as you quite rightly state, bks to anyone elses opinion
XK Racer - have you had a look at this site? No pimped DB9 would be complete without one of these:

Nope.......It will cost about 10K I sourced a good second hand rear diffuser and new front bumper for under £500 he spent £50K on the car so for £60K he gets something that looks like a DBS.
That is nowhere near DBS money!
He doesn't care about clubs and forums so he wont get laughed out of them, he just liked the look of the DBS and since I did his Jag XK a number of years ago asked me if I could do it. No worries!
I love DB9s and one day I will own one then I will really Ps some people off!
But joking aside he will de-value the car and Aston nerds will laugh at him but like I said he won't care

Takes me back when I was the type of kid who got an old racer frame fitted moped wheels to it with cow horn handle bars..........I might of invented the first mountain bike over 30years ago XKRacer said:

i think we can safely assume he`ll be getting a dbs tattoo across his shoulders, adbs logo gold chain and sov ring, a dbs personal organiser and a copy of quantum of solace to masturbate over when the wife`s gone to the shops
I note that my fellow Merseysider is equally impressed by the DB9 conversion. What a waste of a great cari`ve used this analogy before....it`s like convincing heidi klum to give you her hand in marriage and then promptly marching her down to the local tattoo parlour to get a mike tysonesque facial tattoo and a load of piercings all topped off with a skinhead.why desecrate the second most beautiful car on the planet(you know which is number 1 mate!!)
Well, it's his car, and I admit I would like to see the pictures when you are finished.
But if I had the money to buy either a DBS or a DB9 I'm not sure which I would go for, because the DB9 is such a dazzlingly beautiful elegant thing. All the stuff on the DBS just detracts from the appearance imho, though the power of the James Bond aesthetic should never be underestimated. Though noone would admit it, why else do people spend £200k plus on a DB5? And of course it has to be Silver Birch. I don't decry it - I liked the films too.
If I drove the DBS and it was just streets ahead of the 9, that would probably settle it, but if not, I would have a nice 9 in Slate Blue, manual with the Sport Pack.
In your man's position, I'm not sure I wouldn't rather buy the £50k DB9 and put a facelift grille and Sport Pack on it including the 5 spoke wheels. If you get one in a nice grey - like Ferrari Grigio Titanio for example - that's as close to being James Bond as most kids and continentals are likely to be able to tell, or as any reasonable man needs to be.
