The usual glib answer - ask your dealer.
You will not be getting 40k off list (that's V8 money).
Not sure you'll get 40k off list from a new, "your spec" DBS either (dealer spec'd is very different).
I might go and have a go in one this month as the dealers seem keen to let current owners have a play. But I can't help thinking it's not different enough to be worth the cost to change...

Id agree, the V12 is truely magnificent but I just can help feeling its not that much better than a V8 to justify the significant extra cost.
Assuming you go with the logic that a V12 can be had for £20k under list, and a V8 might be £15kish, it still leaves an average spec discounted new price for a new V8 as £80k and a V12 at £110k!
Thats a mighty 40% more cost for a car that doesnt seem like it is either 40% more car or a 40% better car. Still perhaps Im being silly, since when did the top of the range model pricing ever work like that!
Exclusivity has its price!
PS : All of the above logic still doesnt stop me wanting one - Im just happy with my new V8 for now!

Agree with all of the above, having just bought a new 4.7 in march i am already day dreaming about a v12.. that said, it would be at least an extra 30k (with discounts applied) and there is no way a not insignificant performance improvement can justify that for me. Would rather spend the spare cash on something else. Each to their own though! Might go try one anyway and day dream some more!
I'm not sure there is any deal to be done on the V12. I was down at Stratstone Mayfair today and booked in a test drive. I brought up the subject of price and it was pretty much along the line of... we've only got 1000, 2-300 in the UK over the next 2 yrs. We'll see how they sell but at the moment it's full list plus extras, ie £142k with good spec... I don't think that included the £4.6k B&O stereo upgrade!! I've met the chap a couple of times and fairly used to negotiating. It seemed pretty genuine to me.

You always talk about if its worth the money or not - how about the car is worth it for itself - i would buy one directly but i just bought the DBS.....
Understand the point your making Angel. My reply would be that - based on the alternatives at the same price, both new and used then, to me it ISN'T worth the money. £120k is the right price I'd say.perhaps right but doesn't look anyway near as good as an Aston
i just calculated how much i paid for my car in pounds : 192k and honestly its not worth it by money aspects ! BUT its such a fantastic daily driver and lots of fun on track i don't want to miss it

All true. A car is 'worth' to you what YOU are prepared to pay for it isn't it? As long as we're happy with our individual choices then we're all 'right' AND happy! i just calculated how much i paid for my car in pounds : 192k and honestly its not worth it by money aspects ! That can't be right, surely? The thing is an Aston isn't a track day toy, the GT3 is a better track & drivers car at £50k less, but lacks the class or style, but can that justify £50k more.. IMO... no!
1000 units restricted sales.... well look what happened to the N400 without a recession.
I love Aston & respect everything they do but £83k 4.7 V8 vs £135k V12 Vantage is a no brainer, put the ceramics, corsa's & other stuff on the options list & get real on the V12 pricing, take off the ceramics & you have £120k then we are starting to get real it should be £105k (109 max), then you have a real winner on your hands & then I am at the front of the queue.. depending on PX

That can't be right, surely?Grant, must take you up on the brakes there... I'm not sure if you've spent much time with the Aston CCM brakes, but I had a DBS for a whole weekend a while back and I found those brakes to be quite simply phenomenal and unlike anything else I'd ever experienced. And unlike other ceramics, they are good to go from stone cold and are feelsome and progressive. Quite an achievement!
Agreed though that at Vantage level, they should probably have been made an option, but I suppose Aston are trying to push the exclusivity side of things on the V12V.
