My V8V has been left out in torrential rain a few times recently. When opening the doors a fair amount of water pours out the drain holes. I'm a bit concerned that the doors may start to rust from teh inside out....

Any thoughts?

Have noticed that when I wash the car and then open the doors I get a serious flow of water from the forward drain hole. Seems like the way it's designed and supposed to work. Can only imagine that the routing has been done in an anti-corrosion way, i.e. sealed plastic tube or the like.

Aren't the door skins alloy anyway. Not a metallurgist but had always thought that would not rust anyway. Could be wrong.

I don't think there's very much ferrous metal in the doors. But there are electronics etc.

It might be worth getting your dealer to check them out - I don't recall mine filling like this, and it's been outside for 90% of its life.

mine does the same, as do most cars ive owned if you pay attention closely after opening doors when its been raining

as above - the doors are not made of anything that can rust though ...they are a bit like an Elise to be honest - plastic and aluminium cars with the odd bit of steel where its needed smile

yep as bogie stated all cars do it and have drain holes in the bottom of the door, only issue comes if the drains block with leaves and debris (pretty rare but have seen it) and then everything is sat in water, i am sure it is nothing to worry about,

Thanks, all. Hopefully nothing to worry about. It's just a bit disconcerting seeing all that water gushing out of one's pride and joy!

All three of mine have done it.

They do seem to hold an impressive amount of water!
