Hi Guys

About to convert my beloved CL55 AMG into a new(ish) DB9. Had my heart set on Tungsten silver and promised myself not to go with my usual black, found a nice 07 tungsten with two tone interior, went for look, took for a test drive, was left really cold. Then wandered into showroom and there was a black DB9 all black interior, gorgeous. So my dilemma is, should I go for the Black again or take a chance on Tungsten or the similar. What would your preference be.

Cheers

You could take a look at the Meteorite Silver my favorite by far and easier to keep clean smile

Colour is of course all personal opinion, but for me - on an Aston - the Ferrari Grigio Titanium is the most dynamic and beautiful colour. Funnily enough, when seen on a Ferrari it is very dull and flat. I guess the Aston painters put in more effort. Looks great on a DB9 too.

Black does look awesome on the DB9, but only when its polished & shiny, 95% of the time it just makes the car look older & a tad tatty, with scratches/dirt/swirls showing more but then again if you love cleaning your cars regularly then its an awesome colour choice biggrin

Thats my problem, love the AMG when its just done but doesn't stay that way long. Also not the best with a shammy. God, really hating this, have been looking forward to getting an Aston since I was 6. Now when the time has finally come picking a blooming colour is driving me nuts.

yes

My V8 is the first black car I've owned. And will probably be the last.

Looks amazing when clean, but is very rarely clean unless you have a butler to continually do it!

My 911 is black - first and last car I think in this colour - looks the best when clean but only lasts about half a day after driving away

Never really cared for Black, perhaps its the total lack of color.

I had a tough time deciding between the Titanium Silver, the Tungsten Silver, and the Meteorite Silver. The trick with all of these is that they are not pure colors, you have to look at them closely to see what type of tint they have and in various lights to see how they react. In the end there was no bad decision. The only car I saw that I didn't like the color at all was a yellow one.

I have a DB9 in Tungsten Silver and it looks great all the time.
I have had lots of comments from people saying what a great colour it is.
I clean the car as often as I can - every couple of days, - but clean the alloys daily, which is more important in making the car look great than the cleanliness of the bodywork (IMHO).
I had a black Range Rover Sport, which lasted about 5 minutes driving after a clean before it looked terrible again. Loved it when it was clean & shiny though.
Colour is a personal choice. Go for what you'll be happy with.

My current V8V is tungsten silver - it almost makes the car appear to be hewn out of a sold billet of metal (well, it does when it's clean and the sun is shining!). My pal has a DB9 in black and it looks pretty grubby unless it's just been cleaned.

Thanks for all your all comments guys, narrowed it down now to two cars both 07 models, meteorite is july 07, black is january 07. Black is 31000 miles on the clock for 65k, meteorite is 25000 miles at 73k but has slightly more bells and whistles for the money. Which would you recommend/go for. Interior are all black on the black car and all phantom grey on the meteorite( prefer plain interior, don't like fussy).

+1 the sportpack makes the DB9 a much better drive than without.

Been a tad dumb and not actually asked if it is a sportpack, assumed is was due to the wheels. Can you specify just the wheels without the sportpack option when buying?.

Yes you can. But they are also the most costly part of the Sportpack upgrade so if it only has those you can probably negotiate the get the rest. I would go for the meteorite - one of the best colors for an Aston.

Just had my question answered by a post on the General forum, one of the guys with a DB9 was asking what colour, black or white for his Aston. seems you can get a thing called wrapping done to your car. Comes in what ever colour or design you want and its only a couple of grand or less. Always wanted a white DB9 but they are rarer than rocking horse st, can now get the black car and change when I want.biggrinbiggrinbiggrinbiggrin
