Car Phone problems
Discussion
My car phone has been replaced 3 times under warranty. I got it back after the 3rd replacement and it has the exact same problem.
The issue is the system looses its connectivity to the SIM card but the system still shows it’s connected to the network – meaning I can’t make or receive calls or calls get dropped.
When this happens I pull out the SIM card but the system doesn’t recognise the card has been removed. I have to do this several times before it resets itself or I have to park up and switch the engine off.
SIM card has been replaced twice just in case it had become warn – however, I do not think this is the issue because my regular mobile phone never has an issue reading the SIM card.
Anyone had this problem? I think it’s a software issue with the unit so IMHO doesn’t matter how many times they replace the unit it isn’t gonna do what it says on the tin

May I ask what model of Aston Martin you have and also how old?
There have been a number of problems with the SIM reader in the early DB9's. There is a better replacement available now for around £135.00ish from Aston Parts. Fitting is a case of removing the ICM, fitting the new part and re-fitting. This should take no more than 1.5 hours for remove and refit.
Another option is to Bluetooth the car.

The ICM (radio display etc.) is the same on both cars.
So as far as I can guess, the SIM reader should be the same on both. On your car Bluetooth or GSM prep would have been the two options. I would suggest trying a replacement SIM reader. If you can try one without paying for it just to prove it, then that would be excellent. Do let me know how you get on.
