Obviously the odd chip to the front is unavoidable, but I'm getting quite a few small chips and scratches up above the protective film on the fronts of the rear arches.

Only really noticeable after having the car cleaned with a jet washer.

Is it going to be common on all our cars and is it common to get the rear arches resprayed every couple of years as well as the bonnet?

Cheers,
Greg

Have you got the 'stone guards' or as they are usually called 'mud flaps', since fitting mine (really easy) my rear arch chip amount has lessened. My mate who has a car similar age and mileage to mine without the 'stone guards' has much worse rear arches.

I have the plastic film protection right up to the coach line... this seems to work well..

I have one on the lower skirt and one triangle shaped a bit higher, the stone chips I mention are even higher than this. Can't really cover the whole arch with the film frown

eta, they're not all chips! The car needs a clean!! smile

There are only a few, but I can see it getting worse, just wondering if its pretty common to get this area resprayed too.

Get the "stone guard" front mudflaps. A lot less road crap gets sprayed on your car when they are fitted....

without the mud flaps they get peppered in daily use - mine really needs a respray as I didnt get them fitted until 18K miles (now nearly 40K) much better since, but still get the odd one

I have seen some later cars fitted with extra armourfend that goes higher up than the factory stuff - thats what I will do when I have them sprayed I think

you would be best to fit mud flaps or if u dont want them the n400 sill panels come out wider and stop a lot more crap being chucked up but will cost a lot more to fit .they do look the nuts though

Does anyone have any pics of the stone guards?

The sills on the N400 get covered in debris even on the shortest trips.

you can just see them in this pic - they are quite discreet regular mudflaps, dunno why they are not fitted as standard to be honest ...or just some armourfend that goes up 6" higher would do the job

Mine's got the front mudguards and the rear film protection and I'm still getting lots of small stone chips on the rear aches.
