I'm tempted to lower my car and would like to use V12 Vantage suspension for my V8 Vantage.

So how likely is it that AM will release the V12 suspension parts for use in the standard V8 anytime soon ?

I think a kit may come, but if you really want it, then I dont think its so special that you cant just ask at a dealer for it e.g. its some dampers and springs, nothing that has patents on it, it will just be the valving and springrate youd need to know

Isn't the V12 Vantage's suspension one of those trick ones, where you have different settings for sport or comfort? If it's one that uses this new magnetic stuff, wich Audi and Ferrari uses, it's not that simple and cheap to do, me thinks.
But there are some conventional Bilstein dampers (developed for the Prodrive Kit) and some springs (can't remember the make, but they where also in the Prodrive Kit).
Altough never driven either (Prodrive V8 Vantage nor V12 Vantage) I heard the Prodrive Suspension Kit to be very good.

I have to correct myself. The Prodrive Kit contains of Eibach springs and driver adjustable Bilstein dampers.
Here's the full description:

I thinks the DBS uses also Bilstein dampers, not sure about the springs. But Eibach has a very good name, I understand.
If I ever would upgrade the V8 Vantage (the one I will own some day, hopefully) I would only let AM themself, or Prodrive do it. I thinks running the AM Racing team is enough credential to modify an Aston. Altough having some company that only exist for 2 years and advertise 22" chrome rims alongside some ecu remapp wich they claim 450bhp for, is not.

BTW
Here's a nice vid from the Prodrive V8 Vantage:

The reason I would go for the V12V suspension kit is to keep the AM warranty 100% intact. When I'd choose to go aftermarket, it could potentially cause problems with warranty.

My car already has Bilstein Dampers that come with the optional sportspack.

I'm wondering if the V12V has the same dampers just with upgraded (stiffer) springs. Does anybody know ?

I stand corrected, but do different springs affect the warranty?
There has been a lot talk about the warranty with the Prodrive kit when it was launched. Didn't catch up with the chit-chat. But it's worth asking Nicholas Mee, wich offers the Prodrive kit, as well as being an Aston dealer.

Not sure. When a pal tried to order N400 rear lights for his V8, the dealer refused saying Aston would not allow it. You'd have to check with a dealer direct in this instance.

Thank you Gene for the valuable post beer

I really don't think that the weight distribution (49:51 to 51:49) or the weight itself (up to 1680 from 1630) would be a problem, because springs have to cover a wide range of weight. But the other things you mentioned could potentially cause problems.

Which dealer said that? It's on the AM website - perhaps a while back this was true but it's not true any more. My dealer quoted £1000 for supply and fit for my V8V to get N400/ DBS style rear light clusters....

yeah, they are factory options now ...all of the N400 bits can be ordered - the catalogue was posted a while back on here ...glad I didnt buy my "limited edition" just for the manufacturer to offer all the bits (without the badge) a few months later LOL wink
