What is the "best" exhaust to fit to a V8V in terms of wringing a few more BHP out of the old girl?

I wouldn't expect there'd be much/anything between any of them. And wouldn't expect any of them to give more than a very minor uplift (that couldn't also be explained by statistical error on a rolling road).

Choose the one that you like the sound of most - this is the prime reason for putting one on.

hi ocean,

i bought a tubi this weekend from the main uk importer and he said hp claims are to be taken with a pinch of salt, but they did show me a dyno test they had done at paramount performance which showed a 12 bhp increase after fitting a tubi. as far as im concerened if there is ANY increase i would be pleasantly surprised, but for me the main thing is for the car to sound more orgasmic than it already does!!

If your looking for a power increase as well as wanting to release the great Aston V8 sound then you may want to look at fitting sports cats and a sports rear exhaust. PM me for more advice on liberating a few extra horses from you Aston.

All the exhaust guys claim a power gain. So which to choose? The only companies, I feel, who have the pedigree, product, and sound knowledge to match an Aston Martin are Tubi or Larini. If anybody will give you the power/sound it is these guys. Exhibit A: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHX-OkXG1OE and Exhibit B: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WuOO03OHU7I

Oh, and beware of companies such as Paramount quoting, ahem, 'epic' dyno figures.

I see you quote an, as near as it makes no difference, 450 bhp from the 4.3 Vantage with only a remap; sports cats and exhaust.
I don't want to offend you, but doesn't this seem a tad optimistic? I mean it would be interesting to see some rolling road results. What's the improvment on 0-60; in gear acceleration and top speed?

funny you should say that, a few of us have been saying that all along - that there are some optimistic claims out there for performance bits, as is usual when someone is trying to sell you a £2000 exhaust backbox, that would cost £400 if it were to be made for a Japanese car in the same configuration wink

theres a guy on the AMOC forums in the US who did before/after runs with one of these ECU/exhaust/cat packages - I think in reality its about +25-30 bhp gain

Runway completely agree, these are my favourites as well for the AMV8 DB9 and DBS, different views and criteria for the DB7 and vanquish (i.e. only fit a sports centre box to a DB7 vantage if it is an automatic) , and there can be big differences between cars, never mind factors such as air temperature and density, tyre grip,

the only way to prove a gain is test it before and after modifications and not the gain, and on the whole who cares it sounds great, it looks great, It's an Aston biggrin

I fitted Larini sports cats and AM power upgrade and got a documented before and after of 33bhp gain. A full exhaust upgrade would probably not achieve this, plus the car is more enjoyable and drivable. Posted a full report the other month.

Providence1 i installed power upgrade in my 06 vantage and I was thinking on installing cats like Larini's or RSC . my question is do you ever have any codes on your car ?
Does the exhaust sounds any louder or nicer?

I have had no codes to date. My Larini cats are 200 cell, apparently if you go for a cell count lower than 200 then thats when the problems start. The exhaust sounds substantially loader I have had mine recorded at 118db. The note is fantastic, but you have to want your car to sound like a loud V8 all the time if you go for it. I also have fuse 22 out. If you live local to Surrey very happy to hook up so you can hear her first hand.
