Noticed last night when I locked my door on the remote that even though the lights flashed and the mirrors folded and the locks 'clunked' my car wasn't actually locking!!

Not great that is it?

Booked in next week.

Is it both doors or just the passenger door? How old is car?

Earlier cars had issues whereby the passenger door wasn't locking but the driver door was ... so you'd walk away thinking it was locked!

Dealer will sort it if so ...

Had the same problem on my 56 plate MY07 Vantage.

Don't be fobbed off by resetting this that and the other. Insist on having both lock mechanisms replaced.
After having had a software upgrade and a reset procedure, I've had the drivers door lock replaced, this has improved matters but not totally cured. It's now having the passenger door lock replaced next week.. its been in 4 times for this issue..
Slightly frustrated that although they seem to know what the problem is, my dealer seems to being fixing it one part/step at a time.

My 56 plate has just started doing this too - I don't even get the clunk as the doors lock, more of an insipid "click" and the locks decide between themselves which door will, or won't, be secured !!

Hmmm...

The other day I could have sworn I locked the DB9 but when I went to the car to open it I forgot to press the plipper and tried to open it and the alarm went off. This leads me to think that the system alarmed itself but the doors didnt lock...

I shall keep an eye on it

cheers clap

Mines just started doing the stupid alternate door locking thing. Got two new door locking mechanisms
on order but these parts are on back order so have to wait a week to get it fixed.

The same idiocy has started to happen on my car. Lock it come back in the morning and find the passenger door unlocked, but the alarm set. Another trip to Stratstone once I get it back from the bodyshop today!

If you press the lock button twice "deadlock" it seem to lock both doors, might help until the fix.

They tried the reflash thing yesterday and no go - so it's a new drivers side lock as apparently it's that one that controls the other side somehow !

Zod - the bodyshop, was it for bubbling paint around the door handles ?

No - some fker keyed the bonnet.

I do have slightly bubbled paint around the door handles though, but forgot to mention it. Drat!

They are fixing the door-locking issue today. They say it's the latch on the passenger door.

Sorry to hear that mate, is it deep?

Try asking them to replace both latches just incase, i'm still waiting for the latches for mine.

We leave our V8 Taimar with the windows down and the sunroof open all the time but we do set our alarm. Found that the crooks around here don't hesitate for a moment to break a window or slash the sunroof. If they want in, then they want in. We make sure we don't leave anything of value in the open with those cars.

the problem is caused because the latches are jaguar latches and there is a spare arm on there that aston dont use which can get caught and cause the locks to cycle leaving the car unlocked. get both replaced but get your dealer to modify both latches or the issue will return.
