Couple of questions..!!
Discussion
Hi
Currently dabbling with the idea of getting a DB9 - new to Aston, so not really sure where I'm going with it all...!
DB9 choice based primarily on the 2+2 seating - keen to be able to get the family in if required. Is this a good move over the Vanatage - should I accept that I'm not going to get 4 in and go for the V8?
Things to look for - 'good' options to have etc?
PRevious threads seem to indicate that servicing isn't too scary and warranty a good move.
Any help, thoughts, advise warmly welcomed...
Thanks
Chris

options, that is one of the best things i find about the later Aston Martin cars each one is different, exterior colour, interior colour, wheels, spec, stitching, piano black, wood effect, and also seen soulreavers who has changed the some of leather for alcantra, fuse 22 in or out, each unique, hand built nor perfect but wow, always raises a smile from the driver and passers by old and young, if you could bottle it you would make a fortune, which would i choose, each week i change my mind, this week servicing and upgrading a DB9 Volante absolutely lovely car, the alacantra in soulreavers left a major impression, this is a decision best left to the heart when it feels right you will not be disappointed, If feels like this will do then be patient and wait for the right car, Its like finding a soul mate, i know inanimate object etc etc, it will not feel that way when you out driving, i am very fortunate that i see a large quantity of cars, have i seen two the same, never,
Servicing costs if you use a dealer or specialist will be in line with porsches top end mercs and bmw's, Bentley lambo and ferrari overall will be more expensive, the reliability over the DB7 and vanquish is very much improved, just my opinion
after all that's said and done it's an Aston

Depending on how tall/big you are (as the first driver) view the DB9 as a 2+1 or 2+0.5 (depending on how big the potential rear passengers are).
Im 6'1" so zero chance of anyone sitting behind me at normal driving position (and I will not compromise on this in such an expensive motor) unless they are in a baby seat or are less than 2 years old. My missus is 5'7" and can sit with the seat fully forward in the passenger seat and our 11 year old (5') can JUST fit comfortably behind her. OK for short journeys but longer ones?
Cracking car though, wouldnt change it for the world...

I was convinced I wanted a DB9, but after mentioning on here that I had previously owned a couple of Tuscans the general advice was try a Vantage.
So glad I listened. As someone said with these cars you buy with your heart. Take them both for a test drive and then decide. As soon as I saw and drove mine I knew it was the right one for me.

I always wanted a DB9, but found myself being able to afford a used V8 Vantage. I was just about to commit to buying one when I suddenly thought, that although it's a fantastic car and I know I would have enjoyed it, I would always have thought "wish I'd bought a DB9".
So I waited until I could afford a DB9, (agonising), and finally got one in March. Haven't stopped smiling since - except when I have to come to Canada to work and leave her locked up in the garage.
Don't use the back seats, very limited room even for a child.
Follow your heart.

I went through the same thought process and agonised between V8, Roadster and DB9. I wanted something more raw than a standard DB9, but I decided I really had to have the rear seats after a fun week with a Roadster when I had to leave it at home on a Saturday and turn up to a lunch party in the wife's Polo (the alternative would have been to leave wife or son at home). My compromise was a manual DB9 with the sports pack. It took time to find one, but it was just what I wanted.

I use either my 911 or DB9 most days and it's VERY easy to live with. The steering is meaty and full of feel, but not heavy. It's just perfect. The rear Visibility is pretty good and with parking sensors is a doddle to park. The only thing I would say is that it's a lot lower than it looks, so you have to watch when going over speed bumps. As for reliability they are pretty good as long as they are used. I didn't use mine enough for a few months after I bought it and the battery went flat the electric windows and seats need reset etc, massive hassle. Since using the car more, it's been absolutely fine.Currently dabbling with the idea of getting a DB9 - new to Aston, so not really sure where I'm going with it all...!

Yes there are seats in the back, but they are fairly useless. I have had an adult in the back, but 1 there were quite small and 2 they were very uncomfortable. There are really kids seats to be honest. Although, it's handy for putting a bag or two in. They aren't like 911 seats, they are much smaller.
As for what options to go for well, Sat Nav is a must (even if only for resale), Rear parking sensors are great and a stereo upgrade would be good, though not essential.
It's also worth remembering when the cars were updated. They got VERY minor updates in later half of 2006, stitching down the middle of the seats and a slightly bigger boot (I do mean slight). In 2008 they got new wheels, slightly different interior and a bit more power.
Hope that helps and good luck with your search. If need any more questions answered then just PM me, I'll be g;lad to help.
