Just seen this...

http://www.astonmartin.com/thecompany/news?a=ee5fb...

Not so sure myself!!!

ETA - Do any of you guys drive Smarts in your spare time and would this appeal to you? If AM wanted to bespoke a small car, wouldn't a MINI be a better starting point??

It's got to be a joke. I hope.

It's their official site and sounds authentic though.

My first 2 thoughts precisely. Double-checked the URL for the AM site a few times before I posted!!

I think they've lost the plot, taking a Toyota Aygo and putting a body kit on it will be the worst thing they've ever done!

WTF!!!!!

Googled it to check, most of the car mags are carrying the story, so looks like it for real

Will the V8 engine fit in there?

Interesting point made by the OP...What do AM drivers drive when not out in their AMs?

This would presumably be some knd of starting point for the research that would have been done prior to embarking on such a venture. Wouldnt it?

Surely a plan to meet some sort governmental CO2 targets. Bez talk about offering it with a DB9 or DBS as a package. Can they work it that you count the IQ CO2 levels and have a weighted average against expected use to show a much lowever CO2 level? I don't know? Maybe they bundle it so they can show a dramatic reduction in CO2 levels as a manufacturer to avoid EC penalties without a huge technological investment? This smacks of business requirement rather than business sense.

I didnt think that AM were a big enough volume manufacturer to fall foul of that Co2 rubbish ? ...or are they planning on being a mass market British "Porsche a like" type sportscar company and make 100K units of SUVs a year and hence need a supermini in the range to drag the avg CO2 down...if so, their marketing n strategy people need to think about their brand a little I think wink

It is to the DB9 what the MiTO is to the 8c. An ugly pastiche.

Heard this on the radio on the way to work this morning. Assumed I had nodded off briefly and had a bad dream. Apparently not. The suggestion was price just over £20k.

I bet you it's about average emmissions.
- Based upon a Toyota IQ, they could easily sell as many as these as they make DB9's etc.
- That would reduce their average fleet's emmissions by what, 75%?

Isn't average fleet emmissions the important thing coming from the EU?

Question to Aston owner with small city runabouts,
Would you rather have a city car you can leave anywhere that never gets a second glance or something with AM badges?

Why settle for a V8 when a V12 will do. Besides if it has a towing bracket I could fit the wifes luggage in !

When I am older and have my fleet of Aston Martin's, I would have something like an R32 as a run around not this rubbish.
