I've recently bought an 07 Vantage and the battery is not holding charge (its pulling 10 amps on my charger so I think it is on its way out). It seem the battery drain issue is well documented but I can't see any postings about replacing the battery. It looks like a nightmare to get at. Has anyone gone down the DIY replacement route who can offer me some guidance?

I've never done it, but have had the parcel shelf cover off and removing the battery would look to be a doddle...

As murph says it is not a difficult job, first turn on the ignition, then turn it off removing the key leaving the door open and window down, within 10 secs of removing the key the battery disconnect switch in the right hand side in the boot needs to be pressed this stops the alarm from sounding, next remove the trim above the battery compartment, behind the drivers seat, remove the metal panel secured with bolts, next disconnect the earth lead first, then the positive, remove the securing bracket and extract the battery, being careful not to catch any leather etc, fit the new battery positive first then the earth refit the panels, press the battery reconnect switch little yellow button again behind front seats, then turn on ignition and reset radio presets, and reset windows, and the clock, have a much earned cup of tea and take for a drive, this is to relearn the idle and cruise values etc as these will have been lost with disconnecting the battery,

i will post full details shortly on knowledge base with step by step instructions and pictures as this will make it much clearer, i know it sounds difficult but it really is quite straight forward, just needs a bit of care

Thanks for the advice. Do you have to take out the large vertical trim panel behind the seats to get the battery out? It looks to be impossible to take it out with this in place ( the aluminium reinforcing rail along the top edge covers almost half of the battery).
