How can you miss a car so much you have only owned a couple of weeks? I am having the scratches sorted, new plate ( yes I did get it) mats fitted properly , as they were riding up under the pedals, and an infuriating nearside rear squeak which I think may be handbrake related. So hope my baby will arrive home all rejuvinated from her short holiday.
Serious question.... I do still struggle with the start up procedure. I put the key in, sometimes till it is flush with the console depress the clutch and... nothing. I have tried inserting with some of the key proud then pushing till flush, depressing the clutch and still nothing. Obviously I get it right somehow but there must be a bullet proof procedure that I have yet to master. I have tried the forget display method and push key fully in and start, but I seem to recall on here that this isnt recommended
Can someone please post up in idiot speak the correct way every time.

The weather is pretty awful so its a good time to loose it for repairs as you simply MUST drive everywhere with the roof down, compulsory! Suns out again Friday so you are hot to trott!
Start up, I simply depress clutch first.... then insert key fully in to start!

Therefore Angel must be about 63 at a guess???
i put the key in, turn it and wait for the system check to complete everytime before then depressing the clutch and pressing "the button".
i know people don't like the "power, beauty, soul" bit that you get whilst the system check is going on but i love it! for me it epitomises what the Aston is to me so i'm very happy to sit there and read it whilst the system check is going on.
so, maybe your issue is that the system check isn't finishing completely first before trying to start it.

I think she has the plug type crystal key thing...so, maybe your issue is that the system check isn't finishing completely first before trying to start it.

Not used one, but the first thing I do when I get in mine is drop the clutch. You can hear the switch that opens everything up for starting when you press the pedal.
So I would guess that dropping the clutch, and then inserting your "ECU" would be the way to go.

Car not ready today so picking up tomorrow am. I did ask them to fix my new plate to an X type backplate as I saw on here but lost the thread. The service manager took one from a new showroom car in the adjacent Jag dealership but said he thought it looked naff due to being too big for plate. I am therefore having it fixed directly to car. Any issues with this? He reckons in our climate and unless I track it there wont be any overheating issues. I am keeping original back box in case I dont like but any comments welcome.
Also I have noticed the "milky" effect on the grill vents. My OH uses Solvol (I think) on his bike engines. Is this a good cure?

The plate will be fine. I just stick mine to the bumper area with foam pads - costs buttons, ultra lightweight and can have the plate lower so it doesn't obscure the top grille as much. You're not really blanking off the lower grille as there's plenty of ability for air to flow round it.
Not sure on cleaning as it's not a forte of mine Think your car's quite new? Could it be wax or something not removed properly? Get your dealer to valet it properly while he's sorting the plate
