No doubt this has been asked before so apologies in advance.

I have an 02 Vantage Volante which I love. I would however like to enhance the sound a little. Are any of the exhaust mods worthwhile, are they expensive etc? If so can anyone recommend a firm?

Also are there any other mods that are worthwhile?

I know Rick - since you are in my sons pit crew wink (DBR9RC wise) btw i talked to the mechanic at the local AM dealer - he said its the oil pump inside the auto gearbox that makes that noise more when cold - anyway my wonderful car will go there by tomorrow overnight to check all those minor niggles (steering column rattles a bit, front left makes some noise when you roll over bumps and the noise from the TT box) smile Lets see what the loaner will be wink

From memory , there are two levels of system available through the dealer network , which involves
changing the centre H section and the tailpipes . These were 75mm and 88mm in diametre , but produced a huge difference in tone . These will not compare favourably on price to the likes of Larini etc ,but were engineered for the vehicle , do drop straight into the original mounts and sound great . Word of warning though ,when fitting these systems to vehicles fitted with auto boxes , the mid range drone can be a little over powering c1200 - 2500 rpm .

DB7 without sports exhaust = schoolboy error smile

Had a Quicksilver center section fitted earlier this year and it transforms the sound, just awesome. Lovely deep V12 burble plus popping on over-run ears

Thanks for that. Roughly what would you expect to pay and are there any recommended firms? I am based in Berkshire.

I got mine on eBay for £500. There are a couple for sale right now (item numbers 380008382904 and 170338913117) which although described as different things are actually the exact same product. I bought mine from the same seller as item 170338913117 so can confirm they are trustworthy and ship quickly. If you bid £500 then ping them an email, they'll sell it at that price.

Go on, you know it makes sense smile

I had an Aston Martin sports exhaust fitted by a main dealer in 2005. Cost = £1,272.30 + labour

FWIW I am one of the rare few who actually miss the standard exhaust, so tread carefully. I see loud exhausts as a bit like breast enhancements on Audrey Hepburn - unnecessary and a bit footballers wife tasteless.

Awwwww come on.

There must be times when you think a bit of Cheryl Cole or Abbey Clancy would be a nice diversion from Audrey biggrin

Just a quick thought/question - can someone confirm whether the Factory/Quicksilver Sports exhausts change the emissions enough to fail the MOT? Do you need to swap the original back on each year?

no the exhaust makes no difference at all to the emissions it's the cats,o2 sensors and the ecu,s that control the emission, changing anything after the cats will be fine,

For a terrible second I thought you wwere saying Mrs Cole had been enhanced - amazing how easy it is to forget what her husband does for a living! I'm afraid I don't know what an Abbey Clancy is, but I'm sure I'd find one terribly useful.
