Hi Folks. Every time I fire up the beast and see the 'Power, Beauty, Soul' logo splashed across the dash I feel like weeping at it's absolute & dreadful twee-ness. It's utterly revolting. Whoever in Aston came up with that marketing trick should be kicked out the door. Could they not at least have it say "Proudly engineered in Britain' or something....?
Anyway, and more importantly, do any of you good folk know if there is any way to get rid of it??

Oh, whatever you do, don't start me on the glass 'emotional control unit'.....! My chum has one of those for his DB9. He looks like a stained glass salesman every time he pulls it out his pocket....
As you say, a nice metal key is so much better than the bksology ECU.... At least my V8V has one of those old-fashioned key things....

the Bugatti one looks like Audi ones have been for years? ..so in Essence, just what ASton had before, with the volvo fob (but leather covered!) and Ford key?

the best key of all is the Jaeger watch with it built in a la Bond...but a £20K option is a bit rich for me LOL

It screws up the nicest starter button of all time.
The buttons are too small and fiddly.
You have to hold it in too long for all the "handshake" stuff to happen and the engine to start.
It doesn't keep the engine turning until it fires (a la Rangie) so if your finger slips off as you insert it, you have to push it it again, pull it out, push it in, wait for the handshake with your foot on the brake and then the engine starts.
The crystal will probably scratch over time.
Unnecessarily heavy.
Why not keyless entry?
Why not leave the starter button as it was and take the cue from the tracker fob – save you driving off without it?
Doesn’t look that good when it is in the slot.
Slot looks awful when it is out of the slot.
And the most FECKING AWFUL PRETENTIOUS stE NAME.

Agree with the above completely!
After numerous calls from Aston Martin customer service regarding my thoughts for future improvements, over and over I told them I wanted KEYLESS ENTRY, don't see the point of the new ECU key, I really don't ????? In fact the key and the Horrid huge buttons on the centre console stopped from me from upgrading to a newer car.
I also started a thread on the AMOC on future changes I'd like to see and was told that Aston Martin was following the thread with interest, to their credit slowly some of the items have been addressed.
As for the slogan at start, I've read so many threads with people asking the same question, no success yet . . . . . .

I hardly notice the text when starting up and setting off. And once under way it doesn't exactly spoil the drive.
As for the "ECU", I guess Aston were responding to all the cries for something more special than the Volvo key. Step too far? Possibly. IMO all the 09 interior mods were. But they tried I guess.
Hopefully they have a new guy working on electronic sub-systems who'll be able to do something good with them. The V8 is well behind other marques in this respect.
The Key is an improvement over the past Volvo ones. However agree that the starter button should have been left alone
I suspect that over the next 18 months we will see a new generation of keyless entry build in with the new AM Tracker units............At the end of the day its the drive and feel that matters IMO

'Tis true. I can't remember the last time I noticed the PBS. But if I had the ability to reprogram it, it would be gone within 30sec.
Angel, I loathe the plastic key even more - ruins the dash when you use it and it the cheapest bit of tat I've seen on a decent car. They ought to give you two glass keys.

I agree on the keyless entry beeing the way to go, but of all non-keyless entry solutions, I find a ECU the most beautiful.
It's something special no other brand does have. Ok, Renault has it too ->

Hypothetical question...They have 1mGBP to redevelop onw of two things only on the car (the rest of the pot is dry). They can either sort the satnav/stereo combination, or the way we start the car...
What do you choose?

Simple, keys stay in your pocket (or handbag girls) and the door is unlocks as you approach, you can play with the settings to decide if it opens both sides, one side or both sides but time delayed. Once in you simply press the start button and go... When exiting you kill the ignition with another dab of the button and opening the door turns of the radio and other ancillary electrics. It's so simple I cannot understand why Aston didn't/haven't used it, unless it was cost cutting? Or because Volvo wouldn't allow another manufacturer to use it ;-) Anyway it doesn't bother me, my Aston uses a good old fashioned key. RichB said:
