I bought an AMV8 Roadster a couple of weeks ago. If you can get by the dodgy build quality then it's a good car. (Fuel flap sticking, lots of rattles inside.)

Fuse 22 came out on the second day of ownership. smile

The car is really all about the experience, and to that end I have had an idea. I think it would be absolutely fantastic if the car would pop on overrun, or as you change up through the gears.

Is this possible without damaging the cats? I seem to remember you can't chuck unburnt fuel through them, but not sure. Is there a remap that can help achieve this?

With Fuse 22 out, you'll often hear the many pops and bangs that would normally be muffled by the back box ... and without any modification smile

I guess it depends upon your driving style! smile

Sorry for changing the topic slightly but am amazed you say it's got dodgy build quality because the fuel filler cap sticks and there are some rattles in the interior??
You want to have a go in some other cars and realise the difference in build quality, i had a 350z a few years back and that thing had a aviary in the back and three of the dash buttons when pressed would pop through the dashboard!!

To get some nice pops I would suggest sports cats and exhaust, the OE cats stop a lot of the pops, bangs and crackles from getting out.

I can't find any videos that really show this but this one does sound great:

There's loads more on the RSC Youtube channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/rsctuning

Ive heard Toyota build quality is exceptional wink

to get it to pop, lose the cats (or be prepared for new ones as consumable parts from time to time)

get it remapped, put a bit extra fuel in, switch off the fuel cut on overrun

it will sound like a proper poorly managed engine then .....

have you tried trailing the throttle a little.. used to work a charm on my TVR, just rest your foot slightly on so you're just giving it a minuscule bit of throttle and it would set the car alarms off, whereas closed throttle wouldnt so much.

Just got my V8 back having had sports cats and the AM power upgrade. You can now play it like a musical instrument. It can make an amazing range of sounds including loads of pops and bangs when you over gas it. More to follow in a post I'll pop up later this week. Car is off to the rolling road to see exactly what its gained have bench marked it prior to the work. All I can say is she has gone from brilliant to fantastic fro me!
