Hi all. We spent the day gorging on Astons. I drove the DB9 and loved it. Then drove a 2006 Vantage. I thought all things considered thats the car for me. On the way home my other half was very quiet. Usually its him that wants to do the deal and me saying no. Turns out he just wasnt wowed by the interior. "Tart".
We then went to Sevenoaks and this is where the problem started.
He looked at a V8V (see, getting the jargon already lol) roadster 4.7 with the facelifted interior and it was pass the tissue time.
One slight problem its £20,000 more than we can afford. Typical man he starts whining and stomping, want, want want.
Serious question its a true manual, does this affect resale over the sportshift?
Cant fault it and he was so lucky on demo that he saw a patrol car in the mirror just as he was about to floor it. Its immaculate. Demo mileage only and drop dead gorgeous.
Thirty years ago I may have sold my body but now only taxidermists might show an interest.
Are we being daft? Should we wait a while? Or dive in have a beautiful car but face eating gruel for the forseeable future? He wants this car and no other. That way he avoids going o Bluewater to get me a birthday present.
You know and I know we are going to buy. Please just leave some encouraging comments to make me feel better. Or better still if you want to leave a donation.........

If it's a MY09 you prefer (new interior) that's what you should get.

They've been out for about 9mths now IIRC, so you will also be able to choose from a number of cars and hence be able to deal...don't rush. Have a good look round. You're on the verge of making a great choice.

Where are you based?

Incidentally, what colour and trim options were on the 06 you tried? This can make a big difference.

Murphs right that the colour will affect the look of the interior, also the centre consul additions (piano black etc!) can also lift the interior, so don't write off the 4.3 Roadster if you are over-stretching yourself with the 4.7!
Aston dealers say the sportshift outsells the manual, but I prefer the manual &
so do others, so re-sale won't be an issue (just look at the Wiki owners list).

Two nice £60k 4.3 roadsters here...

Is this the one you are looking at? £80k 4.7 same colour as mine for just over £20k more than the 07 cars, younger, massive spec, new consul & that engine... thumbup .. only you can decide biggrin

Thats the one.... whimper, drool. Just love it The 2006 was Tungsten Silver with a Caspian blue interior. You know when something is just spot on and the Roadster was it. Wow factor times a million.

Hi Murph.
Based in Kent. We have trawled the adds but O/H determined to get the aforementioned car. Just adore it. We are hopefully going to sort out this eve, do the deed tomorrow and collect next Saturday. Sorry to be all girly, it might be no big deal to some Aston owners but to us its fulfilling a lifetime dream. So excited.

Manual is fine, as Grant already mentioned.

However, the lack of Sportspack would be a big drawback for me on that car.

Good stuff! Not girly at all, you're buying a great car.

Once you've done the deal you want, get them to throw in mudflaps, some mugs and a t-shirt wink

On the 07 car you saw, I think the blue interiors are hideous (though one guy on here I think has one broken up with cream which looks OK). The leather looks like plastic.

Sounds like you're sold on the more expensive car though. Just hope the dealer doesn't read here!

Great look car Di. If you and the O/H decide only this one will do, then just go for it. You'd only regret it later if you didn't, and you won't regret buying the car (even if it involves eating gruel for a couple of weeks - that still won't take the smile off your face!).

Sounds like a good decision. I noticed that car before on the classified's, and it does look fantastic, and it would have been on my shortlist I can assure you. I think the colour is the Ferrari Grigio Titanio which we were discussing elsewhere and is a stunning colour.

Don't worry about the gruel, you will come to enjoy it and in conjunction with moderate exercise will help promote a healthy lifestyle. Stuff the foreign holidays as well and switch the central heating right down or to hot water only.

Have fun, and remember that we are expecting a detailed report and pictures. It's not sufficient to konw that your OH threw a sulky fit - that is like a Jeremy Clarkson road test. We want the detail. Objectively, what put you off the DB9?

The dealer advised that the sportspack isn't available on the roadster. His words not mine as it would have been a preferred option for us too.

I'm afraid that he is very wrong on that.

Grant on here (and probably others) has a Roadster with Sportpack.

Then very fact that he bullstted me would be enough for me to walk away.

Just spoken to the dealer who has eaten a rather large portion of humble pie. Had I looked back a couple of pages I would have seen Grants superb report on the car. And read about the sports pack.
Never mind, the car really still ticks all the boxes so I will still, fingers crossed be picking up Saturday.
