When I recently purchased my Vantage I continued my insurance with Adrian Flux.

Over the last 6 weeks or so and the exchange of a couple of letters I have returned home tonight to a letter telling me that they are not prepaired to insure my car for theft unless I go and get a new security system fitted.

My car is fitted with the upgraded alarm and tracker.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I find it all the more staggering that they advertise on this particular forum if they do not believe the Aston security system to be sufficient.

Your profile suggests a '06 car? Do you know for sure that you have a Tracker fitter? Have you phoned Tracker and checked? Have you purchased the Tracker subscription (it is non-transferable).

'06 cars did not come with any tracking devices fitted as standard. Instead, Tracker was offered as a cost option.

The current Aston Tracking system (not to be confused with Tracker) is built in to the car at the factory and is standard fitment I believe.

Ridiculous then - that's the top of the range and works perfectly well!

I'd kick them in to touch ....

As an update -

Rick provided me with an insurance dec form from AM
Armed with this I contacted Adrian Flux again
They said that they didn't want to see the document and that Royal & Sun Alliance would not accept the letter as proof of anything.
They offered me an alternative cover that was not concerned about security but cost twice the premium (£1800 per annum).

I think that it is a joke that they advertise on this forum

Sack em. I've insured four different Astons via A-Plan (with NU cover) -- never any issues and they've matched the best rates I've been offered. Worth a shot. I don't work for them btw

Same with me.

I've had 3 Aston's with them (as well as various other cars, houses, etc) and they have always been great.

The other lot sound like they would benefit from a good binning.

i tried them but was 1000 pounds more than with Admiral ! I have no no claims and am 28 so was happy with just over 1000 for the premium

the trakers is really funny. They keep calling me when i am in car with tracker in right place although the other day i sent it back to the dealer on a truck and they never called ! I phoned to complain and was assured a call right back but nothing

Now i have car back and guess what they are calling me again although all it right ! Think they have it back to front

IMO Tracker are a bunch of wkers!!

I had a Noble for 4 years, and bought a tracker horizon when I got the car.(the non gps/internet one) A year later the dealer came to get the car on a flat bed, I expected a call from tracker and nothing. Called them and they said they would send out a signal and call me back.....no call back. Rang again and they said they'd send out a tech. Took day off work, he never showed. Booked again and he arrived. He removed the unit and said it was broken and that it looked like it had never been fitted properly.

One year later I went through the exact same thing again but this time the tech said the unit was duff and had never worked.

One year later and guess what........same thing again!!!

I wrote the them asking for my original fee and 3 years subscription to be refunded and never had a reply. Called again and they pretty much told me to sod off. I gave up and will never get tracker again.

I was very pleased when I bought my new Aston on Friday and the dealer chap told me that Aston don't use tracker anymore!! Phew!!

I have used Admiral in the past, great premiums & cover seems ok, but be aware they don't cover ANY option value, just the base value of the vehicle, e.g. list price ex any add ons.. also check they will pay official Aston Martin repair centre costs, I had to get that in writing before going with them, from memory it excluded a hire car to gain that level of cover! I'm not knocking them, just saying you need to be aware of cover levels.

So Dan@adrianflux posted a note to send him my details which I did straight away.

He didn't come back to me

I did get a call from the contact centre - I was optimistic that they had come to their senses.

I should have known better!

Not prepared to look at the Insurance Dec form as supplied by Rick.

Another 20 minutes on hold - hey it's a good job I 'm not busy furious

I now have to put in writing to them that I want to cancel the policy. I cannot email them as they need a signature on the letter - a strange request as I have not signed anything to establish the policy - what will they check that against to show it is my signature?

Oh well - the AA has my business now and they are more than happy with the security system on the car (as were every other company I spoke to over the weekend when getting alternative quotes)

I had the same issues with Flux. Spent 20 mins on the phone answering all their questions(inc tracker), told me they would call me back with a price and cover and I've not heard owt since!(dec08 when i bought the car). Direct line sorted it without fuss and a great deal.

Hello,

As soon as I got your email I forwarded it on to the Service Team Managers who would be dealing with this and asked them to arrange a callback to discuss it with you.
I also emailed you back to inform you of what was next happening did you not receive it?

I will arrange another callback for you regards the cancellation as a matter of urgency.

Dan.

Dan - why didn't you 'own' this and walk it through the system yourself thereby ensuring that this disatisfied customer got proper old fashioned customer service instead of relying on someone else who probably has much more important stuff to do? That way you would have ensured that this client got A1 service and also didnt tell all your potential customers how badly he feels he has been treated?

Dont you crave for old fashioned customer service folks?

NB I am with A Manning for my insurance who provide a % if you are an AMOC member

cheers
