Next week in Autocar. Quite suprised they're making this comparison. £ for £ it's spot on but I'm guessing that Aston will be thrilled if the car stacks up against the GT3 let alone the mighty GT2.

Frankly I'm staggered that they haven't rolled out the GTR - it seems to be pitted against everything these days - appropriate or not. In fact Horse & Hound our comparing it to a Defender90 next month..................

I know which one I'd rather have.

I abhor 911s generally, don't care how fast they are.

I'd rather have a V8 Vantage to a GT2 (for looks, noise, revs, balance, you name it) let alone a V12V.

No contest.

As a GT2 owner considering a DBS as a great daily I can't wait to read it. Will be interested to see how hardcore the V12V ends up - the GT2 is chalk to the Turbo's cheese, so presume the 12 will be a similar story. What do I think will "win" (if there's really such a thing, is either a loser?) - GT2 would be my bet, every time I drive it I'm more impressed.

Having spent the day (on Monday) with a DBS I can imagine the V12v being a thunderous coupe in every sense of the word. The chief difference between the two being a greater appetite for corners and higher mechanical grip. Sonically it will be in another universe to a GT2.

That 6 litre V12 is feels and sounds enormous and dominates the experience in the DBS. It's a very smooth engine as most V12s are, but its tsunami of torque twists the chassis and hurls the big DBS down the road with such ease and to such an enthralling, addictive soundtrack that it might actually feel a bit strange in the smaller vantage, at first. Almost like the engine is too big for the car. Like how I imagined that RR Merlin engine in 'the beast' must have felt. Almost that half the engine - a 3 litre six - would have done a pretty decent job. Of course that's a very cool thing but it will feel a bit surreal in the little vantage. I'm sure owners will get used to that very quickly!

The DBS, while a natural GT, was able to cover fast a and b-roads at an indecent, ridiculous pace but I think the V12V will prefer corners to motorways.

I was surprised at the comparison too ....how they label the V12V as the "most extreme British sportscar" ...errrr....right...i would say thats a Radical Sr8 or Caterham RSTV8 ...the V12V is like a refined cruiser in comparison LOL wink

I wouldnt consider it vs a GT2 myself either...but there you go, thats the motoring press for you

Its an awesome car...I guess its because its a V8V on steroids, and of course everyone knows a V8V is just a 911 alternative, so it must be compared to the 911 on steroids too

..still ..will be interested to read ...personally (havnt been in the 997 GT2 yet) I think the V12V is a lot more softer, definately I could use it as a daily driver, just like my Vantage, whereas the GT2 might just be a little too hairy for that run to the airport at 5am on a winters morning LOL wink

It might make sense from a £ for £ comparison, but otherwise it's really totally pointless in my opinion. Comparisons in car magazines should be between cars that are real alternatives for potential buyers which I highly doubt is the case here.

The GT2 MKII will simply destroy the V12V in point to point performance, regardless if track or road, curves or straight line. But then it's just a boring 911, isn't it smile

For road use, I would choose the V12V over a GT2 any time. For track use, the GT2 is the connaisseurs choice.
