Le Mans and Stickers
Discussion
Does anyone know where I can get a vinyl that will go round the grill on my Vantage (like the ones on the race cars and N24).
I have asked at Harwoods in Chichester but they have said that they cannot get them and neither can AM Racing. I cannot believe that they can sell a car with this on but cannot supply it post sale.
It is only for a laugh and just for the Le Mans week but I just fancied adding it. I was after the sticker in white to go onto my black car.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks
Adam

AM Racing have now referred me onto Brawn GP. Apparently they do the livery on the AM Race cars!
I have trawled the web - without too much joy. There is a guy in Birmingham who said that he would do it but as I am on the South Coast it is a bit of a stretch for the sake of a sticker.
A company in Southampton said they would do it for £325!
Hopefully Jenson or Rubens have a spare 5 minutes and can knock one up for me.

Beware aware some vinyl companies scalpel the shape on the car leaving cuts in the paint...
I made templates originally but tbh were a pain and reverted to cutting on the car.
After all race cars get damaged frequently so a small mark wont matter too much!
Also be aware the adhesive can attack the lacquer - leaves a water-stain-like mark if left too long.
If you really want it then why not do it yourself like the guy above?
With a felt pen draw the shape on the car, make a template out of paper/card to match.
Pick vinyl colour - there are different types for different applications some thinner than others, and cut the outer shape leaving the inner long. Hexis vinyl is about as good as it gets imo.
Wet the car and the vinyl - this gives you time to get it in the right place.
Now the tricky bit... with a hairdrier gently warm the vinyl. This if you pull gently will stretch it or (without tension) you let it get a bit hotter will shrink it. Takes some practice but you can get it to go round the profile of the wings.
If I wasnt so busy Id say come over and do it at my workshop....

Thanks for the advice Steve.
I did have one company say that they didn't want the job because they would cut the vinyl on the car and they didn't want the responsibility of not damaging the paint.
I like what you have done with the 2 on your website.
Shame you are busy but thanks for the offer
