I was out in the V8V on sunday, 'pushing on' as it where... notice that the front end seemed a bit light and floaty... It didn't feel great to be honest, was wondering whether other experience this?
My previous car, a 928 GTS, used to get more stable the faster you went, so this was a little unexpected...

Your thoughts gratefully recieved as usual smile

tyre pressure were fine... but I'll check them again tonight just incase I've picked up a nail or something.. only had the car a short time (56 plate) so not sure when the steering geometry was last checked.

thanks for the input..

ah - right ...its probably never been checked ...as most people only bother when theres a big issue...by which time its way out

some cars are rarely set-up right from new - as there is limited time on the production line to do it, I guess like most manufacturers, they get it "near as possible" in the time they have and rely on dealers to do it in PDI

Im fussy and get mine checked each year...for £100-200 its not worth not doing smile

the front tyre pressures are 33psi and the rears 36psi, tyre pressures should only be checked when cold,

I just run the factory settings as per Ricks recommendation above

the tyre pressure sensors will let you know if it goes more than a couple of psi out

for track use, depends on the track temp on the day ....but my usual routine is to do a few laps, come in and then let them down to the factory settings when hot

Car should feel firm at high speed and the steering should feel accurate.

Get the geometry checked.

Also I have had my shocks changed under warrantte even though the car is just over a year old and has only done 8,000 miles.

Otherwise it may be time to purchase a Lamborghini Gallardo LP560!! or a Caterham R500!!!

I must say that the V*V's handling is going to take me a bit of time to adjust to.

I race an elise and have a golf GTi for my everyday car, so the first proper drive in the Aston on Saturday left me a little cold to say the least!

I notice that the rear seems to have quite a bit of camber but the front wheels seem totally upright (no camber).

I expect that asking the geo man to add a little camber at the front would greatly improve the turn in and cornering, but may accelerate tyre wear and high speed stability. Unfortunately, messing with the setup is always a play off between two things.

I'm going to leave it alone for a few hundred miles or so and see what its like. Its not really a proper drivers sports car anyway, especially the ones with no roof. cooldriving
