Dear All,

This all started a few months ago with some great advice on spec on this board and ended this week when I took delivery of my new Vantage 4.7. I ended up with a Tungsten silver with the following spec

Brake Calipers - Grey
Front Stone Guards
Auto Dimming Rear View Mirror
Front Parking Sensors
Aston Martin Premium Audio
Satellite Navigation
Bright Finish Grille
Battery Conditioner
Heated Front Seats
Power fold Mirror Assembly
Bluetooth
19inch 20 Spoke Silver Diamond Turned
High Spec Alarm
Cruise Control
Memory Seats and Mirrors
HID Headlamp

Now I just have to learn how to drive it!

As regards dealers it was a tale of two approaches, one very poor and one excellent. Dealer one was my first visit to AM as they are closer to home. Walked in, got no response or service, found a sales specialist, told him what I wanted, he took my name and gave me a brochure and price list. I asked could I see inside one. The response was "Urmm I suppose so" interesting sales technique I thought. Went outside got in expecting to hear all about the car but nothing, just silence. I asked a couple of questions and then went on my way.

A few days later I went to dealer two (Amersham). What a huge difference! Walked through the door and was greeted by a very friendly lady. I explained what I was interested in and she explained that all the sales specialists were with other customers but would I like a tea or coffee while I waited. I declined and she took me across to the vantage and said "Why don't you wait in here". She stayed with me chatting about the car until a sales guy came free. The sales guy was excellent, and very quickly said "What we need to do is get you in one for a drive". The test drive was set up for a couple of days later and was very very enjoyable with William briefing me about the car along the way. Soon after that the deal was done with the end point of one happy new AM owner. We are quick to talk about poor service and I want to highlight the excellent service I have had from the Amersham dealer, friendly, responsive and professional.

Anyway here is a picture of mine.

Best Regards

Josh

Thanks.

One question for other owners. The car has done about 200 miles and there is a squeak from the engine, it seems to be coming from the various belts I can see. Should I just not worry about this and wait for the car the to settle down and if still there at 1000 miles report it as part of the check I have been offered by the dealer. Or get it in straight away?

thanks for any advice

Josh

josh bear, that is one lovely car you have there. A really nice colour, the best 'silver' IMO, the best 4.7 V8 and a really good spec.

Take it easy, drive it as much as you can and gain your confidence with the car and then you will get the most out of it.

With regards to squeaks and rattles, you may have to get used to a few niggles, but that's the character of any Aston or non-mass produced car. Make friends with with your AM service center manager and give him a call about the squeaks, if he is any good, he should look after you like his best mate.

Congratulations.

Any more pics would be great to see?

As requested. More pics. Went out tonight to take advantage of quiet roads and really enjoyed the drive. The squeak is annoying but only started towards the end of the 45 mins. Will sort at 1000 mile check.

Best Regards

thnaks for that

PS just been out again. Love IT!!!!!!! That squeak from the engine is louder though. Happens more in lower gears and gets quieter and quieter the higher gears and disappears when you press the clutch.

A number of the 4.3l models suffered with a 'chirping' noise from a belt/pulley, but i thought that was fixed on the 4.7l. If it's the same thing, there is a fix and your dealer will know all about it.

Take fuse 22 out, wind the windows down and you won't hear it wink

update,

Just been out again. OMG I love this car. Have set up the premium audio just the way I like it. The seat is perfect and I have just been cruising around deepest Berkshire on a Sunday evening. Yes the engine sounds like there are a dozen birds chirping in there but I'll call AM tomorrow and get that sorted. (Along witht he ridiculous loud squeak from the hatch.)

I don't care, the engine is amazing, the drive so smooth. If anyone out there is in two minds, don't be. Live your life and make the purchase.

Best Regards

Josh

Astonitis. Yes that's it. Even volunteered to go to the tip with an old suitcase. As I left the front door my wife said "Whose car are you going in?" I pointed out that in the 21 years we have been together that was the daftest question she had ever asked me.

Best Regards

Josh

Mate - get that foliage out of the shot!

Classic car, well done for persevering through the dealers. Are you N,S,E or W of Amersham usually?

My belt squeak went away with the fix

Cheers and enjoy
