Further to my "Rubbery" gear change thread, the car is booked in for next week, and they have agreed to let me take a demo Vantage for a quick run round the block so I can check if the rubbery feel is in my imagination or not!

Strange thing is (and maybe allied to this problem ?) that if I press lightly on the clutch pedal (not to the biting point) but just slight foot pressure as you are driving, I can feel a definate buzzing through the sole of my foot. This remains constant as the pedal is fully depressed and released to change gear.

The clutch seems to engage much more "softly" than it used to too - I have been used to it engaging with a bit of bite about it. Again I will be able to confirm this as fact or imagination next week.

There is no smell from the clutch during normal driving, I have carried out the slippage test as found on another thread here and there is none, and having learnt to drive on Centurion tanks where it was beaten into me that the clutch pedal was like a light switch and is either "on" or "off" but never inbetween I have spent the rest of my life not resting my foot on any clutch pedal ever when driving!

Has anybody experienced this with theirs ?

Sept 56 reg 07MY 15,000 miles.

No buzzing for me. Same reg, 8k miles, although I challenge you not to get a 'smell' from the clutch when reversing up a gradient on full lock. In tight spaces, you have no choice but to engage the clutch in this scenario.......the AM just doesn't like going backwards smile

I purposely didn't count that as unusual Steve, as I know they all do that uphill in reverse - including mine!

Understood. Possibly unrelated, possibly not, but I do get a shudder through the steering wheel occasionally when manoeuvring into the garage but it's hardly a buzzing and probably more to do with a power steering anomaly.
